I still don't get why you only include Byfield and not Stützle who's ahead of Byfield for McKenzie.

I'd eat my hat if the Kings passed on their heir apparent to Anze Kopitar for a smaller, pass-first whiz kid. Byfield will be a 6-6, 230 pound monster who can fly and score 30+ goals. He's an elite, franchise centerman.

Except we have an army of young defensemen. And an actual goaltender. Not to mention veteran leadership. The Oilers had none of those things.

We have
Nils Lundkist, one of the best young swedish offensive defensemen in the SHL
K'Andre Miller who still needs to cook some more but has insane physical tools
Zac Jones who is a puck moving machine
Matt Robertson who is strong and powerful stay at home defenseman to balance out all those puck movers
There is Lindgren who is a feisty stay at home defender who plays well with Adam Fox
And some people have given up on Libor HAJEK, but he is young still
I forgot Skinner another puck mover
We have a second round pick and a high second. I guarantee one of those will be a defenseman.
There is also the russian dman yegor rykov

trust me dude were f***ing fine.

What we need is bottom 6 players with speed. Or a fourthline that isnt pathetic. All the depth will push good young players down to the third line. Some people say we need a 2 center. I think Chytil is that player, what we need is a true defensive center who wins faceoffs.

I feel you are doing Lundkvist a disservice by referring to him as an offensive defenseman. He was a dominant 2-way defenseman in SHL as a teenager

You got plenty of talent at wings but bruhhhhhhhhhh your centers are weak compare to the compétition. And your defense still suck high, The rangers could become the next Oilers.

Klefbom, Nurse, Bouchard...what are the top defensive prospect of the Rangers in your farm team? I like Adam Fox and Trouba. What else?

Adam Fox, who was in the conversation for the Calder
Nils Lundkvist, who dominated SHL at age 19
Zac Jones, who had such a great year in college, that he already looks like a steal in the 3rd round
Matthew Robertson, who is a really solid LHD, playing in the WHL for Edmonton
K'Andre Miller, who is very raw, but very talented

I never expect all prospects in an org to pan out, but we have enough options to at least have a positive outlook on the future

I like By, but its LaF.

Sabes the only team I see w/assets I want to even think about a trade:
1OA + CAR 2020 1st + NYR 2020 2nd + Lias + Smith
for
Dahlin + 8OA + BUF 2021 1st unprotected + Cozens + Hutton

something like that.

I mean LaF w/Kreider + Zib!!!
Rangers do not have a 2nd rounder, Fox trade.

There's only two things I would change about tonight.

I wish fans were able to attend a lottery party (would've loved to see the place erupt), and I would've liked to have seen Gorton's reaction as he realized it was the Ranger's ball.

Because I know I saw the logo on the side of the ball, before they pulled it out, and I lost my shit.
As did I. I was in my basement watching through a regular cable box. Wife and kids were upstairs watching on Roku app, which on about a 1-2 minute delay, when I saw the red corner of the logo, I screamed so loud, I scared my 6 year old and my wife had warned her I would yell really loud if they win.

As well they should.

Someone has to be adamant that they take Byfield

That will force them to dig deeper and eventually take Laf anyway
That was in reference to Laf being a future captain. :p Made the same mistake on my end! Slim to zero chance we stay at 1 and pass on Laff.

As a Wings fan i must say im jealous but also congratulations, moved up to get kakko last year and number 1 this year while my Wings drop 4 spots for 3 years in a row. cant wait to see your guys lineup in a year or 2

Lafreniere.

Something makes me feel uneasy about Byfield. I'm not sure if his play will translate well to the NHL after being a man among boys in the CHL.

There is nothing that scares me about Byfield, but the choice is Lafreniere and it is not really close. Lafreniere may turn out to be Daigle but passing on what is universally thought of as the best player by far is an act that gets you out of the NHL for good.

Completely different player I know, but I can't help but think of Jessiman with a prospect this large :')

Can Laf play Center? He's a pass first beast of a player with a high-end motor.

listed as a LW and all the highlights i have watched is from LW. With that said, if a player has great vision and can dish the biscuit i think he has a shot at Center.

Same here. I love Byfield, and I think if puts the pieces together, he could be as dangerous as Lafreniere is now. But Lafreniere is the top dog this year. He's earned it, and he's solidified it.

His attitude is also what makes him someone who has not only a high probability of success, but a reasonable chance to overachieve to a degree.

All we really need is Fox, plus one of the four others, to pan out, and we are set. We can only play 6 D. With Fox, Lindgren, ADA, and Trouba all likely here for a while, we only have *room* for one or two of them to make it.

scenario: Lundkvist makes good, Jones and Miller bust completely, and Robertson peaks as a #4-6. Guess what? we are full up anyway.

Just for shits and giggles, what would it cost Montreal for #1 overall? Kotkaniemi could be in the package, 20 year old 1C Finn to play with Kakko. Domi could be available. Pick 16. Maybe Carey Price if Habs go full youth movement?

Why do we want Price and his deal? The offer would have to be stupiiiiiid for us to consider trading Laf.

There's no debate here. Lafreniere is the pick at #1. The only way the Rangers walk away with someone other than Lafreniere is if they move out of the #1 spot.

Stutzle and Byfield are fantastic prospects in their own right, but this is the Lafreniere draft. Barring a Godfather offer from someone, he's going to be a Ranger.
