There's a strong argument there. No one is going to mention it now, but I can promise you someone will in the scouting meetings that are upcoming.
I will watch some Rangers games, you made damn shure of this. Weve never had a Quebec player with this much potential since Vinny Lecavalier.

You got plenty of talent at wings but bruhhhhhhhhhh your centers are weak compare to the compétition. And your defense still suck high, The rangers could become the next Oilers.

Klefbom, Nurse, Bouchard...what are the top defensive prospect of the Rangers in your farm team? I like Adam Fox and Trouba. What else?
What?

Well you gotta feel for the Habs fans a bit. They've been hoping for Lafreniere since like November lol.
Hoping they would tank and bring home the local boy. Crazy how things stand right now. They probably would trade half their roster and all their 2020 picks for him.
I wish them the best of luck against the Flyers I really do. I hope they wish us the same with their local star.
Maybe you got a new Rangers fan here lolll

It'll be unchartered territory for this team as well. We really haven't had a big time star from Quebec in a long time. Heck, this will be the first time time the Rangers use a first round pick on someone from the Q since 1965 (ironically the last time they picked first overall).

And not everyone we have in the organization is going to be part of the team 3 years from now.
And this is the thing that I’m most interested in. Look at what we had 3 years ago... No no.. Even 2 years ago...

There’s a big puzzle here and despite there being a lot of nice pieces, it’s not a completed puzzle. My concern is, signing guys like Panarin, then re-signing guys Kreider (who both can’t really be moved) forces you to move other assets.

f*** you, hindsight! :eviltongu

Kakko made me comfortable with the late 2019 moves. I'll dare say Lefreniere has me more comfortable with the late 2020s moves now as well.

There's only two things I would change about tonight.

I wish fans were able to attend a lottery party (would've loved to see the place erupt), and I would've liked to have seen Gorton's reaction as he realized it was the Ranger's ball.

Because I know I saw the logo on the side of the ball, before they pulled it out, and I lost my shit.

Lets see how you implement 3 terrific young defensemen in the line up and give 3 or 4 years of playoffs to your young goaltenders yet. I like what ive seen of georgiev by the way. If you had an elite talent like Hart with the flyers and The young Russian whose coming i would be very confident with your progression.
Shesterkin has been the Rangers best prospect for years now. He was their best prospect after drafting Andersson and Chytil in the 1st round in ‘17.

He was their best prospect after drafting Kravstov, Miller and Lundkvist in the 1st round in 2018.

He was still their best prospect after drafting Kakko #2 OA last year. As well as Robertson+Henriksson in round 2.

Lafreniere is the only prospect that I see as clearly superior to Shesterkin in our system. Shesterkin has raised the KHL+AHL to the f***ing ground with the way he’s played the last 2 years. And he topped that off going 9-1 in his first 10 NHL Games.

Im not sure what point you’re trying to drive home here.. Whatever it is, it’s foolish. You’re not getting Laf for Carey f***ing Price, lol.

Good luck getting Cucked in the second round.

Doesn't mean it's going to be likely to occur though. think we'd sooner accept a trade offer than pass on Laff at 1.

I legit couldn't even watch the tv screen when the lottery balls were rolling around. I think I looked up once they took out a ball and I saw the NYR logo on it. It legit didn't hit me until like maybe 5-10 seconds after when I realized it was indeed the NYR logo and that they'd be selecting first. Started jumping up and down immediately after lol.

i'm not a Habs fan by the way, i just like to talk about the Nhl in general.
like what the Canucks did with their group. And even more what the Avalanche have done with their team. The Huricanes, i like too but less than these other two team.

The points i try to drive home and talked about are reality too. You cant project a young group of defensman will do without at least full seasons in the bank and espacialy young goaltenders and the series are somewhat kind of a next level. The flyers were aware of that when they got Niskanen And Braun.

This is horse shit to pretend that Staal, De Angelo and Smith will get this team to higher levels. So if you put this ''famous'' experience with young talents that have yet to prove. How do you get all this together working to get things done? Pure talent win games against so much elite competition.

The Rangers will achieve the same goals, im pretty shure, We'll see in the next years ;)

Seven hours later and I still can't believe it.

A meth’d out Helen Keller would be happy with that - but when you combine that with some of managements other longterm decisions, it makes things less than perfect.

Imagine being in this exact position with 6.5M more cap space and a roster spot at LW for Laf? As well as a potential top-20 pick in this first.

Laf-Zbad-Buch
Panarin-Strome/Chytil-Kakko
Lemieux-Strome/Chytil-Gauthier/Kravstov

Gorton now has, let’s say pick 14+24 this draft on top of 1OA. He can now look to package Geo and/or Strome to move up this draft or Target a 2C. He can also re-sign ADA to a longer term contract. Hell, he can probably bring Fast back too.

Again, moot points. But still some food for thought.

Lucien DeBlois was taken 8th overall in 1977 out of the Q

Yeah, but the Rangers can't base any real world, meaningful decisions on the off-chance something like this happens.

Frankly, I don't think we're in a situation where we have to move anyone. Lafreniere is potentially going to be one of the best bargains in the NHL for the next three years, and when he surpasses Kreider, the latter moves to the third line or gets traded. He's not immovable.

I thinl there's nothing wrong with putting Lafreniere on the third line, and personally, I don't mind Lemieux being on the fourth line one bit.

I don't think any one of what you've described is off the table because of Kreider. And I don't think the alternative path without Kreider looks as appealing as what we have now.
