Short term I can see Laf slotting in as our 3LW. But I think he eventually needs to move to our 2RW. Panarin on the left circle with his right handed shot. And Laf at our right circle with his left handed shot. Deadly.

We need a true shooter on that right side. I love Kakko and the strides he made from the regular season to the play-ins was tremendous. But he’s not that offensive weapon Laf is.

Our PP will be even more dangerous now having a good LHS.

I think medium-term, Lafreniere switches places with Kreider and the latter potentially slides into a very unique role.

The more I think about it, the more Chytil becomes a potential lynchpin.

If he can indeed fill that Center role, and Kakko and Kravtsov come along, holy shit does that top 9 look dangerous.

I wasn’t a fan of CK at RW. At all. He looked confused - with the puck and even more so without the puck.

His go to move at LW is using his size and speed and protecting the puck wide. Maybe I saw things differently than some but I see him strictly as a LW.

When you looks at videos and highlights of Laf, his offense comes from all over the ice. He’s obviously the more gifted player, but I think he can become a fixture in the right side and it’ll provide some nice balance.

He certainly could. My gut tells me probably stays at LW though.

But, at the end of the day, the Rangers aren't facing any scenarios where they "have to" do something. And that's a good spot to be in.

I think with the addition of Gauthier, drafting Kakko, and hopefully developing Kravtsov..

Buch might be the odd man out. But he alone doesn’t get us a 2C.

So.. Buch+Strome? Buch+ADA? Like @Edge said we have the luxury of not having to make a decision now. But we will in the near future. And maybe this thought Is a year premature but it is something to think about.

I think there's potential there on the right side, but right now it doesn't mean much. Gauthier could just as well find himself as a reserve next season as he does playing a significant role.

As could Kravstov, who despite his ability, might end up being another talented player that ultimately couldn’t put it all together at the NHL level. And realistically, most players fall short of accomplishing that.

But I’m an optimist! 99% of our prospects will peak and hit their ceilings! (Except for Brendl, Lundmark, Mcilrath, Jessiman, Lias, etc)...

Still - I do see Laf switching to the right side and even if Kravtsov + Gauthier fall short of expectations, you can’t have Kakko/Buch/Laf there longterm. You also can’t have Kreider/Panarin/Laf longterm at LW. Something has to give.

I love what Kreider has done here in NY, but man, I’m already regretting that contract. Especially considering we probably could have moved him for another 1st rounder this draft, which might have probably ended up inside the top-20.

Oh well. After 3+ decades of being a NYR fanatic, today is not a day you complain. About anything. You thank the hockey gods and move on with a giant and satisfying, yet humble smile on your face.

We got the 2nd and 1st OA picks back-to-back years a w/o tanking like bitches. Thank you, Hockey Gods.

You got plenty of talent at wings but bruhhhhhhhhhh your centers are weak compare to the compétition. And your defense still suck high, The rangers could become the next Oilers.

Klefbom, Nurse, Bouchard...what are the top defensive prospect of the Rangers in your farm team? I like Adam Fox and Trouba. What else?

Well, yeah, we've literally only been doing this for 18 months. We didn't have a first round pick from 2013-2016.

The difference between us an Edmonton is that we have no problem signing free agents, and we can find talent outside of the a lottery pick. As a result, we have a lot of depth with which to work on both the wings and defense.

The Rangers will have more depth than the Oilers. And superior goaltending.

Our prospects like Chytil, Kakko, and Fox have a lot of growing too.

Our depth at RD is very strong. We have 3 terrific LD prospects in Miller, Robertson and Jones. Lindgren also had a very strong rookie year and will be a physical force.

Yeah - we could absolutely use a long term 2C. We’re hoping Chytil pans out for us. On the other hand, Strome had 59P in 70G for us as our 2C who had 2 less points than your leading scorer in Tatar, and 12 more points than your teams 2nd leading scorer in Danault who put up a whopping 47 points.

Except we have an army of young defensemen. And an actual goaltender. Not to mention veteran leadership. The Oilers had none of those things.

We have
Nils Lundkist, one of the best young swedish offensive defensemen in the SHL
K'Andre Miller who still needs to cook some more but has insane physical tools
Zac Jones who is a puck moving machine
Matt Robertson who is strong and powerful stay at home defenseman to balance out all those puck movers
There is Lindgren who is a feisty stay at home defender who plays well with Adam Fox
And some people have given up on Libor HAJEK, but he is young still
I forgot Skinner another puck mover
We have a second round pick and a high second. I guarantee one of those will be a defenseman.
There is also the russian dman yegor rykov

trust me dude were f***ing fine.

What we need is bottom 6 players with speed. Or a fourthline that isnt pathetic. All the depth will push good young players down to the third line. Some people say we need a 2 center. I think Chytil is that player, what we need is a true defensive center who wins faceoffs.

The habs had a lot of depth too since 2 or 3 years.

Should close this? We’re obviously drafting the future legend!

The habs had a lot of depth too for so many years.

And that will ultimately be our test - how guys do or don't live up to potential, and how we utilize depth to balance and fill out the roster.

I don't think anyone here is convinced that the final product is just around the corner.

We need centers, we'll need to develop our left defense, and we're going to need to mix things up in the middle/bottom six. And not everyone we have in the organization is going to be part of the team 3 years from now.

Lets see how you implement 3 terrific young defensemen in the line up and give 3 or 4 years of playoffs to your young goaltenders yet. I like what ive seen of georgiev by the way. If you had an elite talent like Hart with the flyers and The young Russian whose coming i would be very confident with your progression.

Well you gotta feel for the Habs fans a bit. They've been hoping for Lafreniere since like November lol.
Hoping they would tank and bring home the local boy. Crazy how things stand right now. They probably would trade half their roster and all their 2020 picks for him.
I wish them the best of luck against the Flyers I really do. I hope they wish us the same with their local star.
