In all honesty, the Habs do not have what it takes to get me to give up Lafreniere, either. Only team I even entertain an offer from right now is Ottawa. The package has to start with 3, 5, the Isles 1st, and the Sens first next year. The question is if Ottawa would add enough to it to convince me, and I do not think they would.

for me, its either OTT for the 3rd/5th/Brady T or LAK for 2nd/Turcotte/Bjornfot

How similar do we think this draft ends up looking to 1991? It seems improbable that he ends up being this good, but I can’t help but get Lindros vibes from Byfield.

Laf feels a lot like Forsberg to me.

I can only assume that Byfield simply isn’t Lindros, or else he’d be getting all the hype. The question is, why? He’s huge, fast, has great hands, and is on the young end of his draft class. Would he be the consensus number one in most years and just not this year because Laf is THAT special?

Lindros was so dominant and mean.

Byfield is not that. Laf plays more sandpaper than he does.

not sure if this was mentioned but JD was on with michael kay today. said that lafreniere wears #11 because he idolizes mark messier...although he was 4 years old when messier retired so this is very possibly typical PR 'every player drafted grew up a fan of the team that picked him' bs LOL

His dad may have been a fan and passed that on.

There are a ton of kids who say their favorite player is Bobby Orr.

Forsberg was pretty nasty to play against.

And here I thought it was because his birthday is October 11th. Shows what I know ٩(˘◡˘)۶

The OHL isn't nearly as strong defensively as the QMJHL.

That's why I think AL was much better in International play and is the clear consensus #1 pick over Byfield.

AL all day long..

Byfield is a very good prospect, but again, AL is in his own class. This thread title is really, really dumb. If we stay at 1 it's LA. The only small chance we don't take him is if we moved the pick for a huge ransom.

I wonder how much of Byfield's dominance over his peers is due to having his growth spurt early.

Would love Forsberg with a normal foot.
