for me it is option 3, I am not going to kill it, but I am to scared to catch it and release it as I do not want to deal with it, so I am hoping to keep my house free of crumbs and it is going to brave the 20 degree weather and leave

A) Thank God it's not a ****ing rat.

B) Call the management company that owns the apartment.

C) ***** to them that I saw a mouse.

I have yet to see either of them in my apartment. Apparently, the last tenants were some slobs and had a mouse infestation according to the neighbors. Aside from bread (which I keep in a Ziploc), everything in the cabinets is either a condiment or soup. Everything else is in the fridge. Mice and rats tend not to care for Worcstershire Sauce or canned Tomato Soup. I do have crickets and spiders. I take pictures of them for when I inevitably get bitten.

Had this a few months ago. Our cat brought two live mice into the house within weeks of each other. We caught the first one right away, got it into a bucket & let it go out back away from our place. Second one escaped our capture for a few days, we were finally able to capture it in the kitchen with the help of a trap that they go into & a goalie stick. My guy took the trap & mouse to the dumpster, the rest is up to the mouse.

If it's just a couple, probably option 3. It gets ****ing cold here, so if they need a dark corner to keep warm, live and let live I say.

Besides, I have multiple cats, if they over step their bounds, things will take care of themselves.

As Mr. Burns would say "unleash the hounds." Between my Rat Terrier and my cat I am covered.

We had mice a couple of years ago my cat was on it. The difference between the cat and dog is that the cat is a sadistic ahole. She toys with them then kills them. They actually die from fear. The dog is just a stone cold killer whom once got the taste of blood has been mauling everything in his sight.

We've had 2 mice in our garage in the past couple of months.

One was killed by a trap.

One was stuck on a sticky trap, then was killed.

Mice stuck on sticky traps usually die from dehydration or they try to eat away at the sticky stuff around their feet and get their nose buried in it and then they suffocate.

I have some live traps that I use. Catch them then let them go a block away from my house.

There have been a couple times when I forgot to check the trap and found a dead mouse in there. I felt bad.

2 years ago I bought one of those sonic mouse repellent things. Plug it in the wall, and it emits a high pitched sound. I've only had 1 mouse since I got that thing and I just saw it scurry across my garage and I set traps but never caught it so I think it buggered off.

fun story. My wife is scared of mice. I found one in our basement and I have no clue how it got there (we havent' had one since). Her office is in the basement and I told her not to worry because the mouse is more afraid of her than she is of it. Well well well, this was no ordinary mouse. I think it was a little bit slow in the head. it walked right over her foot. haha. When I came down stairs after my wife screamed there was the mouse just sitting in the middle of the floor. I was able to walk right up to it and catch it with a box. Then I let it go outside. My wife was not the happiest of campers...

I had my ferret hunt a mouse I found in the garage.

Was one hell of a chase.
