So I was just reading an article by Eklund (I know I know but...) but he made a comment I never considered, not sure how much truth it has...

"If the players still opt to go to China, the league may have no option than to play makeup games during the break without clubs having their star players available to them."

Is that possible??

If so, and if it happens that all of our possibles are in the Olympics, we'd have to do our makeup games without:
Matthews
Tavares
Marner
Nylander
Reilly
Kase
Kampf?
Soup?
Mrazek?

That would really suck, but the price to pay for having good players I guess...

I know its selfish but it did cross my mind, we start Woll and get mrazek in order to not overwork Soup. Then Soup goes and plays like 10 games in 2 weeks for team U S A.

Zero? Is it not going to be left to the individual? Unless they are literally not allowed to go I still think a few players make the jump, mostly the dudes without big families I'd say.

But these case numbers and that quarantine in China for 3-5 weeks is super sketchy.

Nice, even great to win but playoffs are a crapshoot. Would you rather be the Habs or the Leafs. I know they didn't win but they came 2nd...

It would make no sense to cancel games because of lack of players due to covid then make teams play without players due to Olympics.

I don’t think we are gonna have to worry about that, it was nice to dream of McJesus and Matthews at the Olympics. But I can’t see how the players are going to agree to go. They are getting placed in Covid protocol here in North America and potentially missing Christmas now with family. they aren’t going to risk it and having to do it in China

Why would any Canadian risk traveling to China a few weeks after they just released two Canadian hostages they kept for 300 days in horrifying conditions? Think it can't happen to you? The CCP didn't even pretend it wasn't retaliation for us detaining Meng at the US' request, clearly have no shame over it and would do it again. How do you know the DOJ won't flag someone else they want us to hold for them while you're in China? I for one will never set foot in that country until there are reforms. It would be like an American traveling to Iran after the 1980's hostage crisis.
