Who cares? These things change from year to year or at least tournament to tournament.
And in relation to population size they're the best to me anyway. I respect it a lot what they do if you consider what they have to work with.

I do not think this a IIHF tournament, so it should not give any points there, or shall a all star team also get points?
Usa have never been second greatest hockeynation.
Russia are strong but too unpredictable nowadays.
And yes i think sweden are on its way too become greater hockeynation than russia.
You can see that also if u look how many players sweden have in NHL today compares too other countries except usa/canada. For a couple of years ago it wasnt like that. Defense are young and year too come i think sweden will be the toughest opponent for canada.

I would certainly say yes. The Swedish D is just marvelous. Russia has the offence but their D are so much worse and they haven't had any success in best on best tournaments for quite some while, unless they beat Canada tomorrow. Also feasting on weak opponents in the World Championships especially when the Russian often have many of their best players does not take them ahead of Sweden.
USA has the personnel to be 2nd but the results do not back that up in any way.

I don't give a damn, I love watching all the best players in the world play at the same time, it's a very fun tournament.
World championships is like a joke these days.
Also I want NHL sized rinks in Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic and Russia now, I want to be entertained.

I don't understand this attitude. To win over Russia when they ice their best players mean nothing? To win a tournament where every premier hockey nation in the world send their best, mean nothing? It means everything. You can't honestly say that a gold in the World Championships would be worth more?
Beating a made up team doesn't prove anything, really. They are second best no matter how they finish in this tourney.

The ultimate hockey for me is a combination of European style of hockey and North American style of hockey.
We see glimples from time to time when Sweden, Russia and Finland play the kind of hockey I love. Not when they facing eachother though, when they face North American teams.

Because Sweden winning a watered down World Championship where they do not even have half of their best players is that more engaging? Seems something that a IIHF member would say.

This isn't a best on best tournament. How would the US have done with Eichel, Gaudreau, Gostibhere, etc?
Landeskog and Forsberg are allowed on the Swedish roster by comparison.
I do think Sweden is the second best hockey country by the way, I just don't think this tournament is true best on best.

Too bad for Team USA but it remains to be seen. Right now, USA have nothing on Sweden. The future looks definitely great for USA if they can get proper management group.

I'm a Swede myself but this is a difficult one. ;-)

Looking at physical and mental toughness I am not sure. I want more tough winners, Viking kind of players ;-) I miss Peter Forsberg... personally I like players with a mental and physical attitude like Hedman, Landeskog, Hörnqvist, Lundqvist, winners attitude, warriors.
In the same way it wouldn't surprise me if we win it all.

Sweden has been second best hockey nation to me for last 5-10 yrs, and it's not really close. Whenever they had that hockey summit (I tend to believe it was around 98/1999 world Jr's a year where Canada beat USA for gold). The program flipped on a switch and never looked back. From the net out, love the Swedish game and it shows through the 2000's how much talent has been produced in the NHL through a moderately sized country. In my opinion Swedes and Finns are some of the most humble people in the game today. Yes, I put both countries in same sentence don't start a pissing match now between each other.

Canada is a little bit like Norway during winter olympics, starting to get annoying. ;-)

As for Yanks? I think only guy they wanted off YG's roster was Eichel, who didn't have such a good tourney. But in hindsight, they woulda been stronger with guys like Johnny Hockey, Matthews and Ghost ( Larkin too maybe? ).
