No more than $11m. Even that gives me pause, because I think adequate goaltending can be cheaper.

If there's a rumour, or confirmed about the new TV deal and seems like the cap will go up a decent amount the next few years, then upwards of 13 per

I definitely wouldn't go over 12.

As a Habs fan I voted under 10, but I'd consider 10 to 12.

I don't like or trust him as much as Carey Price. I had no problem with Price's contract, and would have no problem paying higher for Price today.

The goaltender market is about to be reset in a big way. Gone are the days of just throw any big guy, put some humungous pads on him and hope for the best. You either need to go all out for an elite defense or pay up for an elite goaltender. Every Goaltender up for a contract should be looking at Florida winning the Cup with the highest AAV goaltender in the League who isn't even necessarily the best goaltender in the League and tell the GMs to eff off with "no we can't pay goaltenders" when players like Nylander, Marner and Tavares all get $11 million AAV.

I wouldn't bet too much on it.

SC winning goaltenders in the last ~13 years:

Bobrovsky - $10M
Adin Hill - $2.175M
Kuemper - $3.5M
Vasy - $3.5M and $9.5M (2)
Murray - $628K (2)
Binnington - $650K
Holtby - $6.1M
Crawford - $2.67M and $6M (2)
Quick - $1.8M and $2.9M (2)

10M = 1 cup
9+M = 1 cup
6+M = 2 cups
1-4M = 6 cups
Less than 1M = 3 cups

My point is you gotta pay a top goaltender the way you pay a top anything else. Like sure it’s awesome to have MacKinnon on a steal and makes it easier to win a cup, but you don’t just not pay MacKinnon because you don’t get him on a steal.

Both 6+M were among the higher contract when they were signed, no? I think that's a better way to view it. 4 cups have gone to goaltenders who earned some of the higher salaries in the league, while 9 cups have gone to goaltenders who were either young, unproven, or a flash in the pan.

None of the above I wouldn't go over 7.5 over 5 years for a goalie

the position is too unpredictable nowadays

I'd offer him whatever Demko is making...and then trade Demko in the extremely unlikely event that he settled at that number.

Cap max for max term. Whatever it takes to give him more than what Leon got.

Under 10. But I just don't think hes a guarantee to be an elite goalie every year for the foreseeable future.

If the Rangers don't pay Shesterkin, I'm not sure who else would be in position to pony up to the ask...

Negotiating with themselves in many ways.

Why would they be negotiating with themselves?
If no other team cannot or will not even come close to paying that number, then the Rangers don't have to cave. That's my point. Having the highest paid goaltender by a long shot has not proven to be a great model for winning a cup.

Less than 10.

Goalies on long-term contracts rarely end well.

I LOVE Shesterkin but I would not offer more than 9-9.5M a year. I also think if he goes to FA he's going to be a bit dissapointed with the offers. Not a lot of teams have 10M+ available and the one who does usually are rebuilding and aren't looking to get out of the basement. I'm sure Shesterkin also wouldn't be that pleased to go from a contender to a basement team for an extra 1M a year
