They averaged over 4 goals for per game for the entire playoffs. The Leafs don't have that kind of offense nor do they have the resources to that sort of offense.
To get the 16th (which was reported people think Chicago would have taken in the ADB deal along with maybe another piece).

Yup, unless you have an elite goalie like a shesterkin or a Vasi of which there aren’t many, there really isn’t much seaparation amongst the rest. Your goaltending doesn’t have to be the reason you win, just better not be the reason you lose

The return will solely depend on how desperately they want to get out from under the contract.
If he doesn't get bought out (and he can't while on IR), the Sens are on the hook for his $7 million in salary this season, plus whatever they decide to do with him for next season when his salary is $8 million ($5.33 if bought out). So a minimum of $12.33 M spent vs $7.5 M if they give full retention.
They just need to negotiate the value of saving the Sens nearly $5million. If they can't agree, then Ottawa keeps him and his full cap hit for the season.

Colorado averaged 4 goals for this past playoffs. The Leafs have scored 4 goals once in their past 9 elimination contests. The Leafs are going to need much better goaltending than Colorado received.
