Kudos to the OP, but Europe is not the second best hockey nation now. Europe minus Sweden, Finland, the Czech Republic and Russia is the new second best hockey nation. Despite not being a nation at all. And no-one in the involved nations (Slovakia, Switzerland, Germany etc) even cares. Well done, NHL!

Ahahah, well said, well said!

Sure. They are. Whatever. It doesn't matter. This is so surreal.

I want to time machine back to the 70s and watch hockey from there.

Not nation, maybe hockey-area.

Even then, this is a pre-season tourney, so I don't give this as a lot of weight. This tourney hasn't really changed my view of any team.

One tournament, especially a tournament where you lose once and you're done. Will never change my opinion of a country's hockey position. Canada could have lost to Russia, I'd still consider Canada as the best hockey nation on earth. It would takes years of dominance to overthrow Canada as number one.

Have you watched a U20 tournament lately? Nothing is for sure anymore.

If Canada sent their actual u20 roster to those tournaments, and didn't lose so many players to the NHL, we would kill everyone there too.

Hahaha, the best thing that could've happened, happened. :handclap::handclap: Hope all the talk about "World cup" run by NHL with its own interest in mind replacing the Olympics can be forgotten now, for good.

Yeah but it still affects Canada more. Last season team Canada would have had McDavid, Bennett, Ekblad and Fabbri.
Affects in numbers more, but affects relatively less because there's depth no other country has, hence just 1-2 top picks will make relatively bigger impact on an otherwise no-name team.

LoL.

Nice for the europlayers though they will likely never see another final like this. Even if it is a empty tournament.
