Here's an idea, Hockey Canada starts a Canadian National Development program out of Vancouver, Edmonton, or any hockey mecca in Western Canada. They play in Canada's top Jr.A league and top 15/16 year olds can develop before Major Jr.
Team Age: U17
League: BCHL or AJHL. Or merge the leagues and have 2 conferences.
This would be interesting but the logistics might be difficult to recruit Eastern players? Though USNTDP is out of Michigan if I'm correct and they have no problem recruiting top talent.
Top 15 year olds can develop too as underagers (Savoie's & Bedard's) instead of obliterating academy or club midget hockey.
Another idea is to have 2 National Teams, Western & Eastern Canada where Eastern Canada could play in the OJHL?
