They should split Canada into three teams:

Ontario
(13.7 million pop.)

Stamkos-Tavares-Perry
Nash-McDavid-Carter
Seguin-Giroux-Duchene
Thornton-O'Reilly-Simmonds
Scheifele

Muzzin-Doughty
Giordano-Burns
Pietrangelo-Subban
Brodie

Murray
Elliot
Mason

Western Canada - BC, Alberta, Sask, Manitoba, Territories
(~11 million pop.)

Benn-Getzlaf-Stone
Hall-Toews-Domi
Lucic-Johansen-Sharp
Ladd-Schenn-Eberle
Marleau

Keith-Weber
Rielly-Seabrook
Parayko-Barrie
Stone

Price
Holtby
Dubnyk

Eastern Canada - Quebec, NB, NS, PEI, NL
(~10.5 million pop.)

Marchand-Crosby-Bergeron
Huberdeau-MacKinnon-Purcell
Duclair-Brassard-Parenteau
Perron-Perrault-Killorn
Stastny

Vlasic-Letang
Beauchemin-Demers
Savard-Scandella
Deslauriers

Crawford
Fluery
Luongo

That looks pretty fair. Taylor Hall though, born in Calgary, but grew up in Ontario, played junior in Windsor. He can decide which team he wants to play for.

Instead of working very hard to reach the level of Canada, you're trying to find a way to weaken the Canadian team. Loser mentality.

* Quebec is a real place with a real identity that is different from the rest of Canada and would have a natural base of supporters.

What kind of garbage is this? Canada isn't a "real place" and doesn't have a "real identity"? Yeah, right.

* Quebec was close the voting for independence and might very well actually become independent one day, so the NHL would be ahead of the curve.

Most people in Quebec don't care about independence. I don't see the relevance of demagoguery and identity politics with what is supposed to be a hockey forum.

Team Quebec would make sense. They would be good, they would get a ton of viewership, and there are teams like Scotland that have their own soccer teams, so why not Quebec having their own hockey team?

I always thought a "State Provincial" tournament would be kind of fun, based on where the guy grew up playing hockey.

If you had a combination of 12 states and provinces, who'd it be?

Ontario
Alberta
British Columbia
Quebec
Nova Scotia
Manitoba?
Saskatchewan?

Minnesota
New York
Massachusetts
Wisconsin?
another state?

This would be a fun tournament, i think Ontario and Minnesota would dominate, add Pennsylvania.

Those rosters look solid actually, but how do you decide where a guy plays if he was born somewhere and then grew up somewhere else. Or played junior somewhere else etc etc.

Only one lacking is Eastern in D, nice first pairing. Ontario's D is sweet.

Why not both?

The UK is different. Much longer, more distinct histories and cultures. Unless you're from Texas or something it's not really comparable.

You must have avoided the rough bits.

Nope seen some rough parts and come across all sorts of people with all sorts of opinions. There are a lot of northern Irish who are very pro the UK and Union Jack but they still call the country they live in Northern Ireland, not the United Kingdom. Same with the Scottish.

They've also all been independent countries at various points.

Or a canadian leftover team which i think would be on par with sweden us russia, maybe even better including u23s, or a leftover team of both us ans canada if they want to continue the NWO theme. That might be he best idea: US team Canada team and team NWO (leftovers)

At least no team would be handicapped but would have to name teams earlier than usual

Or just add Slovakia, Germany....

This is a hockey tournament, not some useless nationalism. That's why we need it to have at least 7 teams made of superior Canadians.

Don't be modest. It would take a dump on those ****** countries like the toiletbowls they are.

Frankly, I don't know why they even bother with hockey at all.

What to do with

- russia? (too dominant and sure as hell is not putting regional teams anywhere)

- Team europe allstars? (too dominant?) (Include just the swiss?)

- Is there enough players for east asian allstar regional teams? Chinese/Japanese/Korean

More teams:

Former Russian Empire allstars. (one line from each of Russia, Kazhakstan, Ukraine and Latvia.) This should be appropriately insulting to every living being, especially putting Ukraine and Russia in same team.

Korea-Japan-China. Nevermind that the nationalists in each country want to blow up the others.

Such market potential in these team. All 500 chinese hockey fans would love to see their players fight the Japanese in their own team.

If Newfoundland wasn't forced to become part of Canada by the Brits in the early half of last century, would they at least be as good as the Latvias of the world? Are there any Newfie NHLers?

Conglomerate teams actually do occur.

West Indies in cricket, a bit like the lesser European hockey countries in this Team Europe setup, they're all too small on their own to be any sort of competitive, so have always competed together.

I play rugby and am familiar with it more there.

-British & Irish Lions (England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland)
-Pacific Islanders (Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Niue, Cook Islands) - since disbanded but only because World Rugby wouldn't let them tour enough to become profitable
-there've been others, such as East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda) and Arabian Gulf, which World Rugby forced to disband about 8 years ago but was a poor misguided decision, the reason they said for it has not changed anything in the region, Arabian Gulf just became the United Arab Emirates and none of the other countries have gone anywhere developmentally

Hockey and rugby to me are "cousin" sports in that how both operate internationally is very similar.

And "Team Europe" in golf. It always amuses me when Brits don't want the International Team from the President's Cup into the Ryder Cup because "that would ruin the sanctity of the tournament", a tournament where they had to heavily increase the size of their player pool in order to stay competitive or the Ryder Cup would've faded into irrelevance.

No offense, but you are perfectly displaying the ignorance that actually makes this so funny. :handclap::handclap::handclap:

Those teams = UK+Ireland in Golf. Yes, or maybe not quite?
