Are we turning this into the Little League World Series?

My Canada includes Quebec. Unless you're a Hab's fan.

Play a Canada - Quebec series or face gimmick teams as much as you want over there but don´t make europeans play these teams. The only thing that we get out of these games are either shame for losing to some random mix or nothing/feeling of relief. You want to compete with an equal club, nation etc. Not things such as these.

Team North America vs Team Europe best of 7 series.

I'd rather see the U.S. play Canada best-of-7 (yes, we just lost to them) in place of their participation in the IIHF Worlds one year. The Worlds that year become the Euros.

"You want to compete with equals."

Yeah, that's the feeling I get seeing the Big Six play Denmark or Germany - equals.

Do you know how wonderful it is to watch a tournament where to win a team has to try every single game? Europe were supposed to be pushovers relative to the tournament, the U.S. treated the game as such, and got their ***** handed to them. I look back at the Olympics for example, the tournament's a disappointment for the U.S. and in 2 of their first 3 matches they beat Slovakia and Slovenia a combined 12-2.

And the women's tournament, dear God, there's no competitive reason to have a women's ice hockey Olympic tournament, the only reason it exists is gender equality, and it will continue to be that way until more than 2 teams take the game seriously or Canada or the Northern United States split into multiple countries. Every single game is meaningless until the U.S. and Canada play the gold medal match.

THIS IS OFF-TOPIC, but since the subject of quality was brought up...

The Couturier saga is, in a nutshell, a perfect example of why player development in Quebec is an issue. I doubt there's an English article on this however.

I'd like to see 8 Canadian teams in the next World Cup. The world of hockey ends at the Canadian border, after all.

Québec + Atlantic Provinces
Ontario + Manitoba
Western Provinces
Split US in 2 teams somehow to make 2 competitive teams (East/West?)
Finland
Sweden
Europe

That would be really competitive tournament!

No they are all part of the same country. The United Kingdom.

You ask a Scottish or Northern Irish person what country they're from, I guarantee they won't say the United Kingdom. Technically they might all be part of the same country but in reality they're all different countries.

Ahahah... First a team representing a whole continent (team Europe)... Then another team technically representing another continent, but in reality just two nations & with an age limit (team North America)... Now folks even want a regional team? So much for a World Cup! What's next, team United Fishermen of the North Atlantic? Why not, after all.

you say one state that's not really that big population-wise can almost beat the other 49 together

The main reason is because Minnesota has a very big hockey population. This happens because of the way hockey is run in the state. Hockey is cheaper to play because it's community based. Since it's community based practice is cheaperand you don't have to travel around the country to play at tournaments or other teams since you can just go to the next town 20 minutes away. Since hockey is cheaper more people are then able to play it which leads to good competition since more people play meaning more people can be good.

Ladies and gentlemen, above here it's the future of international hockey competitions according to (some) North American fans!

Mad Max times are coming...

So its not just leafs related, every post you make is short sighted and flame worthy. Your description of Quebec is actually offensive and embarassing. Have you ever actually left the GTA or are just this ignorant all the time?

This team would be competitive.

Huberdeau - Bergeron - Perron
Drouin - Brassard - Duclair
Tanguay - Ribiero - Perreault
Couturier - Pageau - Dubois
Mantha Marchesault Paquette Chiasson

Vlasic - Letang
Beauchemin - Demers
Scandella - Savard
Matheson

Crawford
Luongo
Bernier

This team gets pummeled by Ontario.

I definately think it would be more fair if we split it north south :sarcasm:

And Europe would destroy, Russia is on the same level as Sweden and Finland and your going to make an all star team out of Them and Europe+ Czech Republic??

My definition of country requires sovereignty, which neither have.

If they want to be a country, they're welcome to secede.

Neat idea. I'd love to see that, and it would be HUGE in Quebec. They'd probably be on the level of the Czechs or thereabouts, and that's just fine.

Quebec is finally starting to develop some more elite talent, with a bunch more on the way in the next couple drafts too.

Huberdeau - Bergeron -
Duclair - Brassard - Drouin
Mantha - Perreault - Dubois

Vlasic - Letang
Beauchemin - Demers
Scandella - Savard
Matheson

Crawford
Luongo
Bernier

D looks better than several teams at this tourney. A little thin on wing - lots of older role players these days but they've got Comtois, Veleno, Parent, Simoneau trending very well for the next couple drafts. And there's a ton of drafted prospects with pro potential - Gauthier X 2, Roy X 2, Hudon, Dauphin, Poirier, Aube-Kubel...

Coach : Therrien (jk)

That defense doesn't look better then any teams to be honest. 2 Great D who belong in the tourney. Everyone else is also rans. Beucheman would get eaten alive at this tourney. Look at this last two nhl as proof

Would a much rather a Western Canada team and Eastern Canada team. Both teams would still fair pretty well against the rest and hey how great would a Canada on Canada final be

They could have a rotating "second-Canada" provincial team. One year Quebec has its own team, one year Ontario has its own team, the next year BC has its own team, etc.
