I thought this would be an interesting thread since we tend to dwell on some of these players in other threads. Since Dundon took over, here's the list of player still in the NHL that are no longer with Carolina and what their stats are.

I'm sure there's a typo or two and I'm sure I missed a few players but will add if you let me know. I only counted players that played at least 1 game for the Canes and are currently in the NHL. So Forsling, for instance, won't be on the list.

Skinner having 19 points and being a +3 is why he isn't on this team.

Hamilton being a +11 with 14 points is partly do to a Devils team on fire, and still isn't worth 10 million dollars.

TDA will struggle not having Slavin as his pairing. the -9 shows this. I saw them using him on the PK the other night. Oof. TDA is a PMD who's more forward than D. Sorry I still like him better than Burns and we could have had both if we tried and didn't tie 2.5M up in Bear and do dumb things. We should have kept TDA.

Ned is not doing as well as I had thought, but it's Detroit.

Nino we should have kept. Another waste.

Bear still sucks. Good riddance. We wasted time and money on him that could have helped save TDA or Nino.

Tro we were never saving.

Faulk is having a banner year. Good for him. This is a bit of a surprise.

The one big surprise on the list is Domi. WTF man?

In fairness, there are only 5 forwards on Buffalo that are a + and Skinner has the best +/- of all of them.

True, but Husso, the other Detroit Goalie is 7-2-3 with a 2.55 GAA and a .916 SV%.

He's playing predominately with Patrick Kane. To his credit, he's taking advantage of his opportunity though,.

Good to see Doogie and Faulk having great years, but I'm still glad we moved on from both contracts...Faulk is 100% worth his ATM but still 4 more years it's probably gonna become a poor value (but then we went and traded for an even older Burns)

The rest aren't too surprising given the teams they're on - i.e. TDA struggling defensively. Mrazek & Ned struggling on teams with dumpster-fire defense.

Did Foresling not play a single game with the Canes big club?
nope.

How do you measure things like swagger, confidence and resiliency that some players bring to a team? The Canes seem to have it in spurts but not with the consistency that some of the other frontrunners demonstrate.
There's an advanced stat out there called SCR that attempts top measures that

Buffalo has 18 goals for and 12 goals against with Skinner on ice at 5v5.

Just reading the title.. Kinky @Boom Boom Apathy
Now looking over the thread.. Thanks for the collection. But we are where we are... We got to play better.
Most certainly. I didn't mean this thread to be a "I wish we still had player x" type thread, although I'm not naive enough to think there wouldn't be some of that discussion (as we have it in other threads). I still like a lot of these players so I'm interested in how they are doing and just wanted to put it together in that spirit.

I still miss Faulk. Wish we had him over Pesce.

There I said it.
Hell naw, I love the Peesh. Faulk and Skinner needed clean slates. I wouldn’t undo those.

I think we could‘ve signed Dougie to 8 mill if we negotiated early instead of not at all. I think he had great chemistry, fit the room well and was worth it. I also would’ve signed Nino and Tony to what they got. I would’ve not gotten Patches and kept one or two of the others.

Trocheck to me hurts the most for not only what he brought but the big empty spot we have without him.

I understand not wanting the contracts, but you have to sign guys to stay. I think when you have a good group you take the chance with the contract. Tampa kept as many of their key guys as they could, and we only keep young guys we can sign long term. Different ways to win it all, and I know the way we do it keeps us in the game maybe better long term but I would’ve stepped up to keep more of what we had when it felt like the group was good. This years group doesn’t feel good and time is running out with these guys.

I get the reasons for why we did what we did, we’ll see if it pans out.

Offering him more than he ended up taking in Nashville? His agent overplayed their hand. He said no, we pivoted
He said it publicly that we were never really in it. You’ve said this before and I’ve said this to you in response before. It was during the same conversation where he alluded to the team folding when it mattered the most.

Slavin’s been off this year. I think this team is really missing the postgame Trocheck/Slavin hugs.
