10 less goals against than at the same point last year could be viewed as progress.

However it's worth noting that we had 20 less goals against at the 20 games mark.

Hoping we can get back into that -20 territory by game 40. Would need to give up less than 27 goals against in next 11 games (2.45GA/g).

Leafs are weak everywhere. Net isn't good enough. D isn't good enough. FWD isn't good enough. This team needs two d-men (replacing Holzer and Liles/Kostka), a legit starting goalie or Reimer to get on track for once and for all, and two-three top-nine forwards (replacing Kulemin and at least one of Komarov and Grabovski).

Long, long way from legit contending. Also really have to wonder if the two main building blocks in Kessel and Phaneuf are good enough for their leading roles. I'd say that they aren't, but the other areas are more urgent.

I think the Leafs will only be real contenders when we have upgrades on Kessel and Phaneuf as our best offensive and defensive players. They should still be on the team if they can be resigned at "reasonable" cap hits, but they are best as supporting players. Unlikely we will be able to get them via trade, so in-house development is most likely. Both JVR and or Kadri give hope on the offense and Rielly and maybe Gardiner could eventually take over as our needed 1A D's.

Everyone should chill....we aren't stanley cup worthy this year anyway so at least treat this as development year. Compared to the past we are now losing with our youngsters rather than were losing with our vets.

I think we might have a bigger problem at the net. Ben can't get the work done and Riemer is relatively injuiry prone (or bad luck?). We need a steady backup ala Gelen Healy.

My problem with this apathetic attitude that so many fans have is that, yet again, we'll likely see this team finish out of the playoffs, missing narrowly and as such befitted with a pick that won't allow us to nab one of those potentially elite and/or franchise players. How much longer do we have to endure no playoffs PLUS a pick outside of the top 5? It's just ridiculous at this point.

It's too bloody late for an inadvertent tank and we're a bad team that will very likely fall outside the top 8 very soon (we're just 5 points from 10th or 11th). I'm pretty sick of this garbage year in, year out.
