I apologize on behalf of the canadian fans for treating the americans with so much disrespect. I was not at any of the games as i live across the country but i watched all the games and i dont know why they booed and i would have loved to see canada usa final.

anyways sorry again

Those things happen. And usually just is a few. Silly to mix politics and hockey, but in any event the thought behind your post certainly is appreciated. Most of us do not take it so seriously for you all to worry about. I remember when this flared up during the Candians and Bruins playoffs a couple years ago and someone said not to worry, you all boo your own national anthem in certain parts of the country as well. Good luck to Canada the rest of the way, though I hope that Malkin does well personally and though we have our disputes now and then there is not a country that Americans feel closer to than you all.

I can't believe you guys.

Apologizing because the crowd was cheering for another team?
Because they booed Jack Johnson, who elbowed Downie, a canadian player?

Get some balls. I would've cheered for Russia too, because they're way more exciting to watch. I really don't care if there's politics in there or not, nor should you.

I can't really apologize, since I don't feel in any way responsible... but aside from that, I echo your sentiments. I didn't feel good listening to that at all. I would have much rathered see Canada play the US in the final, even moreso after listening to a week of jeers against the US team.

Better luck next year, and hopefully a much better reception, to the US team!

I am likewise sorry and embarrassed for Americans' disrespect of Canada and Canadian symbols through the years. But, since it was not me who perpetrated these disrespects, I will not lose too much sleep over them.
Yeah, they get me hot under the collar going either way...but that's the way some people are.
Thanks for the sentiments. They are appreciatred.
Good Luck Canada!

Count me if, the US played their way into that spot with a strong rivalry, and then a dirty hit.

Unless we were booing their national anthem or physically injuring their team suck it up.

its only a game. :D

There is nothing to apologize for. The american player took a cheapshot at a canadian player in Canada, of course he's going to be booed the rest of the tournament, that's what fans do. Just because Canada is right next to the states does not mean we have to kiss their asses all the time. It was nothing to do with politics and everything to do with hockey. Johnson doesn't take that cheapshot at Downie and I bet the crowd cheers for the americans over teh Russians because the Russians make for a tougher gold medal game than the states would.

Yeah, what is acceptable is booing Jack Johnson after that game, cmon giving him player of the game after that CHEAP SHOT, gmafb. But like in the US/Russia game if I stayed for the POG afterward, I wouldnt boo either players unless it was Johnson. However booing a national anthem is a disgrace. I didn't know who to cheer for in the US/Russia game but most likely I would have also cheered against the USA! But I wouldnt boo their national anthem.

Apologize for yourself.

They have the right to boo the team/player if they want. It's not like they booed the anthem or nation.

If Americans cant recognize that then.....

This whole thing has more to do with Jack Johnson and Team USA trying to fight at the end of the Russia game than politics.

I could care less about the booing but would be more concerned about the tales of hostility toward American fans and players. Thats just crossing the line.

It rubbed me the wrong way, and I'm not American. I guess there is something horribly wrong with me then :D

Coutdown till this is closed? 10..9...

Yeah, you can tell it really bothered Johnson.

The crowd at G.M. Place loudly booed each time Johnson touched the puck during the U.S.'s 2-1 win over the Czech Republic in Monday's quarter-final action.

"I noticed it right away," Johnson said with a smile.

"I loved it. I kind of thrived off it. It really didn't affect me at all. I thought it was kind of funny actually."

Poor guy, really sounds shaken up about the whole thing, I'm sure the team had a great big group hug afterwards though to make it all better.

Agreed on the hostility towards the fans, etc, but booing the Americans is fair game.

Nobody questions Canuck fans when they chant "Flames Suck" and vice versa, I don't see why we should care when those same fans boo the Americans. It has nothing to do with politics, but with a sports rivalry.

Hell, at least the fans in Vancouver are actually making noise when they boo the Americans...

A+

The cheering for Russia and such is fine.

Fans are entitled to cheer for who they want.

Booing Jack Johnson is fine, the guy pulled out an obvious cheap shot against a Canadian player.

But I think the "Na na na na" stuff was going over the top. The entire American team shouldn't have been condemned by the actions of one guy.

Hell, people don't boo all of the Vancouver Canucks, they just boo Bertuzzi. ;)

I think chanting USA sucks is just as bad if not worse then booing their anthem or team. They were down 5-1 and getting it rubbed in by the cocky Russians on the ice and the Canadian fans I guess loved that fact that they joined in.
