Josh Ho-Sang has fallen out of favor with NYI and Montreal doesn't have a spot for Hudon who is waivers eligible.

Islanders: they get depth for their playoff run in Hudon who is also young, cheap and has offensive potential. He is a good offensive player with high hockey sense and playmaking abilities. He is an upgrade on Kuhnhackl, Johnston, Dal Colle for sure. Islanders gain depth without giving up anyone from their current rosters or draft picks. Ho-Sang will never play for a Lamorielle-run team. Hudon has Marchessault-like potential if the NYI can developp him.

Montreal: team has too much depth up front and Hudon needs to be with offensive players to be effective. He is a good player for sure but burried on our depth chart. He hasn't looked bad even on a 4th line role but always finds himself scratched due to numbers. Being waivers eligible doesn't help him. Ho-Sang has a ton of skills but needs straightening, a trade could be a wake-up call for him. He would join Laval who is in dire need of offense and would play #1 line and #1 PP for sure. Joel Bouchard is known to be a player's coach and a great communicator. This could be the move Ho-Sang needs to fire up his career.

wait, for the same reason Hudon wont make it in Canadiens, same thing with Islanders....

He would actually fit in well next to Barzal instead of Dal Colle. He can also replace any of your top-9 players if they are slumping or injured. You also have 5 UFAs at forward and Hudon could be a cheap replacement.

Hudon biggest knocks is his skating, so how could he play with Barzal?

Well, then Islanders can wait to take him in the summer if they want him.

Ho-Sand should be traded, but either for a player struggeling like him and can pass waivers, or for an upgrade. This is neither.

No. Not trading JHS for a depth pickup.

Imo if he is moved it will be as a secondary piece in a larger move.

Isles are heavily in extension talks with Lee and a recent report said they have had what was decribed as early talks with Brock Nelson.
They have a enough cap space after extending Lee &Nelson to make a run at Panarin or Duchene on July 1st.

Add in several forward prospects like Bellows/Walhstrom in the pipeline and no interest in Hudon.

I would prefer a pick to Ho-Sang for Hudon. I'm sure a team in need of talented wingers could spend a 3rd or 4th round pick on a player like Hudon. Still young, can't crack a deep roster in MTL, 30pts in his rookie year and good numbers in the ahl. I could see Dallas, Edmonton, Ottawa, Colorado, Chicago, Carolina, Anaheim as potential fit.

I'll take Hudon over the cry baby Ho-Sang every day of the week... and that's not saying much as Hudon is a 4th round pick in a trade at best.

There's absolutely no-way Bergevin touches Ho-Sang.
None.

...and I don't really see how this would make any sense for the Isles either.

No thanks. JHS seems like a talented player who needs to learn how to be an adult. Hudon seems like he knows how to be an adult but isn't that good of a hockey player.

Hudon is probably better than Ho-Sang ,albeit with a lower ceiling, but I can’t see the isles moving Ho-Sang for negligible depth. Much more likely to see him being the prospect moved with a pick for an everyday player.

I still think Islanders get more value out of trading a 1st, and JHS for Hoffman.

JHS and his abilities are an urban myth, at this point.

[broken record]

I just don't think his type of skillset translates to actual production. He's a talented stickhandling and a great passer, but his type of stuff seems to work better in a less structured league.

If Ho-Sang ever becomes a top line forward, you can bump this and mock me. But I'd be surprised if he ever sticks long term in the league (might catch on with a team with zero depth and gets top line minutes for one year and produces 50 points).
