How tough was Bobby Orr

Bobby Orr was very tough. He had a temper and a "snapability" which made him a very dangerous man when angry. He also fought like a boxer, no shirt grab for him, and he could hit you with both hands. Anyone who tested him his first few years didn't take him lightly ever again.

I am having an argument with someone on tiktat.
I said Orr was also one tough son of a bitch.
Not for just going through the amount of injury.
I think he had a 1000 pim
I said he was tough and he said like a rubber boot
Thanks

the person you are arguing with doesnt know his ass from his elbow.

I had the pleasure of watching Orr all his years. He was tough as nails.

Orr led the Big, Bad Bruins in penalty minutes twice. Also was 2nd once and 3rd twice.

He was pretty tough.

Look up Bobby Orr on youtube legends of hockey, Red Fisher the famous Montreal Gazette sports writer talked about how tough Orr was. He said Orr could really fight, they tested him that first year he was in the league, they did not test him in year 2.

I believe I posted several or fights in the should we continue fighting thread, or whatever was called. I would go there. I'm not sure how to get there, but see if you can. Otherwise just go to youtube. There are multiple examples of or snapping, he had snap ability, as one of our posters noted, correctly and was for his size a tough son of a gun.

Also, if you listen to the admittedly biased opinion of Phil Esposito or Milt schmidt, they both attest to how tough Bob was. I believe the quote from Uncle milty was they tested him in his rookie year. They didn't test him again. Phil says that Bob would go down in front of the net with really if you remember those pads you know shoulder pads they were just caps they were just nothing. But he would go down all the time he would sacrifice his body, which is the biggest reason why he is career ended as early as it did.

Speech to text here so forgive me. Robert Gordon Orr was one tough customer. I was taught, in detroit, that he was a gretzky-esque character, would you say he had all the big bad ruins protecting his ass, and he never got dirty, ran away from flights, no one touched a hair on his head. Nothing could be further from the truth. Just go to youtube. Put Bobby Orr fights you'll find it.

Your friend is incorrect. Prove it to him.

When Derek Sanderson's Niagara Junior team was facing the Oshawa Generals in a special exhibition game at the Boston Garden, Derek's father stopped the bus as it was leaving for Boston and told Derek that he needs go out on the Garden ice and fight Bobby Orr. Derek asked why, and his father said "Because the only players anyone is going to remember from this game are Bobby Orr, and the guy who fights Bobby Orr."

I'm part way through Stephen Brunt's book on Orr. Early in his career there was an incident against the Leafs where Bobby felt a Leaf player did him dirty and Orr went after him and in the book Brunt asserts that the attack was so violent that some people didn't look at Orr the same afterwards. They say he had a vicious temper if you crossed him the wrong way and would/could handle business himself.

A few years back when Bobby turned 60, the Globe did an article on him. They interviewed Espo, and Espo said that Bobby didn't really have to fight, and probably shouldn't have, but he had a temper, and that temper boiled over some times.

I had the pleasure of watching Bobby play. What a joy.

He was tough for sure and that was part of it, but he was also a freak of nature. By that I mean his athleticism, competitiveness and temper. You had to be aware of that when tangling with him. Super quick hands. Natural strength.

Played well above his age group as a junior, had to learn to protect himself early on.

i saw orr play a lot. he was tough and he could fight. my memory isn't what is used to be but i remember only one guy that really gave it to orr in a fight, rosaire paiement i believe. i'm sure someone with a better memory can chime in.

When Magnsuson came to town everybody hated him , and think most Bruin fans, hockey fans and player will tell say this about him he was always game and never shied away from the action , hate was one thing he got but respect was the other.......
