Yeah, also, part of the problem is puck movement.
PKs in the NHL is really good these days. Everyone plays the exact same way (besides D coverege). You put pressure on the puck and overloads when you get a step.
What does overloading means? You play 5 on 4. 3 guys on one side of the ice, 2 on the other side. When you overload you more or less go 4 PKers on the side the other team had 3 PPers. Instead of a 5 on 4 you get a 3 on 4.
As soon as you make one not perfect pass on the PP, you get 4 PKers launching at you. THAT put a lot of pressure on the PPers ability to move the puck. Look at the players on the better PPs in the league. Guys like Briere, Giroux and Timmonen are excellent, really really good, at moving the puck around.
We do not have that puckmoving ability. Gabby was too stupid. Nash is 6'4, and have never had talent around him in CBJ. He is better in the behind/infront of the net role, not he playmaking role on the side boards. He can be pressured.
MDZ is a decent point men for sure, but he is not an option for BR because he is a left shot. Stepan is 2 pass away from Richards.
Zucc and or Brassard are new in NY, and should be options to help Richards, if one of them play in the playmaking role along the half boards. The problem is that we still wouldn't have that right shot on the left point.
We need to get a right handed PPQB.
