How Often Does Team Get Shutout?

Just curious because it seemed like the Pens got shutout every once in a great while until this season, where it seems like it's happening much more frequently. A google search was unfruitful, does anyone know the stats for this or feel like they're seeing the same thing? And how often does it happen to the Pens compared to other teams?

Of course, the 2014-2015 season is not yet over, so it is incomplete.

In the 09-10 season, we were shutout back-to-back against San Jose(0-5) and Boston (0-3). The game after, we lost to New Jersey 4-1. The game before the back-to-back shutouts we lost to LA 5-2.

Seems about normal I think, I bet if you did that for the top 5 teams in the league, it might put things into perspective for the freak-out artists our fan base has in an insane amount of.

Both Chicago and LA were in the top five in GA the year they won the cup, and each of them won the cup twice which is why I used them in particular.

Edit: I added Montreal to the list... idk if you guys will consider them a "top" team, but idk who else from the East would qualify as a "top team" without including Boston (another strong defensive team).

An interesting note: LA used seven different goalies in the 07-08 season.

Getting shut out back-to-back by the Caps seems like a decent reason to freak out at least a little. And getting shutout twice in two years from 11-12 to 12-13 and 10 times over the past season and a half seems like a trend, no?

It is kind of hard to fully understand your post, but for what it's worth, the Blackhawks had a season not too long ago where they didn't shut anyone out at all. Even the Penguins haven't managed to do that.
