How much longer can we keep Futa?

If McClellan gets fired, I think he will be scooped up quick. Laviolette is going to get a job also.

It will depend on what Futa wants. Conte in New Jersey has been directing their scouting since forever and he's just flat out turned down GM jobs. Jim Nill turned down a few before going to Dallas because he didn't want to move his family or something along that line. Not everyone wants to be a GM. Maybe Futa loves the spot he's in, maybe DL promised him the GM job in LA if he ever retires, maybe he just likes to school every other scout in the business?

I'd imagine if Futa wants to be a GM somewhere he can have a spot almost whenever at this point.

Exactly what I came to say. ball is in his court imo.

He interviewed with Buffalo, didn't he? That'd make me inclined to believe he'd be interested in the job.

Futa would have had to take a complete 360 degree turn around to want to leave the Kings. He wouldn't go for just any GM job, it would have to be the perfect fit. The guy as recently as the end of the regular season said "I have no plans on leaving the Kings". He went on to talk about how if the perfect job came along he would be crazy not to consider it but it hasn't come along so far or something like that.

I have a really hard time believing that the Nucks would be a perfect situation for MF.

You guys are missing the most important part! Kings need to pick up Tortorella as an assistant head coach to help with locker room toughness and general truculence!

Ok seriously a big thank you Tortorella for being the final straw in the demise of what was know as the Vancouver Canucks. Imagine all the **** talking when Edmonton finished above Vancouver in the standings...

You don't want to be a GM for the Nucks with fan favorite Trevor running the thing and the Owner that won't stay out of the way.

Oof great points. Plus, if you're a guy like Futa who can really pick where he goes, you probably don't want to go to a place that just mostly blew a ton of assets into the wind. Buffalo would have been great, Calgary maybe as well, but Vancouver can't be a possibility for a guy like that unless he really wants it for personal reasons.

I think Jim Benning (Boston assistant GM) and Jason Botterill (Pens assistant GM) are high on teams lists as well to fill vacant GM posts.

Paul Fenton in Nashville is another guy to keep an eye on.

I'd put my money on Benning.
