How much cap space do we actually have?

This has likely been asked a million times in various threads, so forgive me. LTIR has always confused me drilling into the numbers, although I get the obvious concept. But with Klingberg on LTIR and his cap hit of 4.15 I figured we'd have close to that? Like everyone we like to spitball possible goalie moves or D upgrades, 3rd line tweaks etc. I figured we have some cap now.

But cap friendly shows this:

Guess I figured if we lost a guy being paid 4.15 million, we could get another guy at that or less and we'd be good. But guess not?

That deadline cap space number makes zero sense to me.

Woll and Reavo are on IR so they still hit the cap, that's 2.1M. We're also carrying an extra D man because we can now - dropping the extra player gets us to 2.9. Plus the 1.6M current free space capfriendly shows and we're at 4.5. Subtract the non buriable amount that Reavo brings and you're pretty close to the Kling salary you were expecting.
