Are you delusional? Marner plays every penalty kill, blocks shots and hits people. That lazy SOB Nylander can't hold a candle to Marner! Mitch has been arguably the best Leaf in these playoff.
It's not that Nylander can't PK, he has this year, but we have one of the best groups in the league and like with Matthews, why have a PPG player waste energy there if he isn't needed?

Also when comparing blocked shots and hits neither of them do it much. Marner does slightly more but I wonder how much of that is on the PK. Marner has 8 hits and 7 blocked shots, Nylander has 3 hits and 3 blocked shots.

Matthews is the one who has really stepped up the physicality with 26 hits in 6 games so far.

It should be Dubas 100% and Shanny 60% but I doubt either of them will be tossed.
MLSE is making tons of money and that’s all that matters to them

If they lose none of those people are the specific reason they lost. It's all comes down to who's stars played better. Campbell is fine, if they lose it's not his fault.
I beg to differ, Posting a 3.33GA and .893 save percentage is not good enough. Vasy has posted similar numbers this series, but he also has Two cups, a Vezna and a Conn Smyth award to his name.

Campbell has let in a questionable goals in 5 out of the 6 games so far. The series isn't his fault we are going to game 7, but he's been very mediocre so far which isn't good enough at this time of the year.

who said no changes? bring in a legitimate #1 goalie

I disagree firing Keefe and brining in Bary Trotz would be a major change would that be idiotic? I don't think so

replacing Jack Campbell with a reral #1 goalie would be a major change would that be idiotic? I don't think so you need a goalie anyway because there is no way in hell Marazek can come back you just can't do that.
Unfortunately without major change it will be for naught.
however I am still hold hope that the Leafs can somehow pull off a win tomorrow night but my faith is fading fast

We also have a top 5 team in the league. They can make changes to the roster to try to find the right formula but at some point the players have to make it happen. We draft well, make good signings for the most part, Dubas can get out of the mistakes he does make (Ritchie, Mrazek this summer), and his trades for the most part have worked out.

Tossing Dubas after a loss is fine if you have somebody better to replace him lined up. That list is extremely small though.

Leafs have 100 blocked shots. TBL have 81.

Stamkos has 3 blocked shots. Kucherov has 1. Matthews has 5. Marner has 7.

I love how we're just making stuff up.
First of all I would like to see those stats because I cannot find them. Second I said Tampa blocks shots, when we are near their net we are usually on the perimeter and they are crowding the net front and all players are sacrificing, lying down, taking away net space to so the goalie has less to cover and fewer shots get through. Lastly specifically on the Kutcherov goal Muzzin turns his head and makes himself small instead of facing the shot and if possible moving towards it to make himself bigger covering more net. Go back and watch the replay

Weve

We've been watching different teams this series. I have seen a lot of heart and character. We just need to settle on our goaltending, and move a couple contracts such as Holl and Kerfoot to sort out the cap.
Moving out Holl and Kerfoot saves about $5MM will hardly sort out the cap.

If they lose Saturday, on Monday are all the talk radio show going to say this is all on Jack? Those numbers vs a top 5 offense in the NHL that's had like 30 powerplays is pretty dam good to be honest.

I want to see what his numbers are when you exclude PP time.

MLSE stands to make substantially more money if the Leafs go on a long playoff run. They are definitely VERY financially interested in having deep playoff runs.

"Depending on the size of the market and the structure of the revenue streams (i.e. do they get all of the money from parking, concessions, etc.) teams generate between $1.5 million and $3 million per home date.

That number can rise exponentially during the playoffs when ticket prices and other attendant expenses rise.

That’s why making the playoffs in the normal course of a season is so critical to teams’ bottom lines."

They should be saying, since all the stars have shown up so far this series, is that all Campbell had to be better then Vasy in one more game and was not. (Btw, this game 7 is exactly the game he has to be better then him).

I strongly disagree in allowing on average 3+ goals in every game and only saving 89% of the shots as "pretty dam good". Hes posting below league average numbers in the most important time of the year, everyone has raised there game and he has not.

that's the only reason I think he might survive because if you change the GM you neeed to bring in somebody with some pedigree and who is out there right now?

Doug Wilson? I think he has health issues

Bob Murray is dealing with addiction issues

and I can't think of anyone else.

replacing Keefe would be easier because you Trotz, Torts, Veinualt, maybe Washington fires their coach if they lose tonight.

what I do know is if Keefe and/or Dubas get fired we need people with pedigree and credibility brought in.

And even that ignores that the Leafs were terrible for a long time, with periodic stretches of being good. Since the NHL implemented the draft, the Leafs have had exactly TWO #1 overalls. Do the "blow it up and reabuild" crowd realize that there's a good chance it's another 30 years before we see another #1? And that could just as easily be a Patrik Stefan?

Yep. Timing is huge when it comes to this, you can do everything right, win the draft lottery and still not end up with anything worthwhile.

Consider this : Shift the timeline on year forward so the Leafs start the new era in 2017 instead of 2016. Draft positions are the same:

2015 - The 2014 Leafs got the 8th pick, so the 2015 Leafs with the 8th pick take Werenski.

2016 - Leafs get Jesse Puljujarvi 4th.

2017 - Leafs win the lottery and get Nico Hischier. Good player but not franchise player.

Basically the blow it up contingent are advocating that we blow up a good team with a monkey on its back and trade it in exchange for lottery tickets. They don't realize how lucky we were to hit home runs on three consecutive first round picks nor do they recognize that luck factors into the quality of players available in a given draft year.

If you told me at the start of the series that he would have better numbers than Vasy, I wouldn't care if it his numbers were 0.50 and .975% or 4.00 and 800% I'd say sign me up.

You have to be careful with pedigree. Somebody like Rutherford who has the experience and is also willing to adapt (leaning on his analytics team that he is building now) would be fine. Somebody like Lou coming in again would be an absolute disaster.

Honestly Yzerman would be the only guy I would definitively be willing to let Dubas go for right now, and I doubt he leaves Detroit until the job is done there.

Game 7 is key. If it's a repeat to either of the past 2 years you have to make changes.
Making decisions based on one game is beyond stupid. If the product is flawed it's flawed and if it isn't it isn't. If you say this team is flawed it's one thing, but if you watch how they play and what is coming up from minors it would be huge risk to make drastic changes.

Let's say next GM disappoints and don't get good hang on with Matthews and he doesn't believe in that GM and decides to leave? There is like one off-season to assess team and make changes, that can affect next season or it's mostly same roster.

Those changes would be made by GM that doesn't know personnel or players. Great tactic. If he assess and evaluates one full season.

There is tons of risk we have 115p team that fights for it's life in the playoffs against 2 time cup champion.

We're trying to win the cup

It's hilarious the bar is the absolute minimum of that goal ( winning a round) and we're still accepting it as ok when it's not reached

The NHL basically changed the entire way the game is played this year for US TV and it was 100% to the benefit of the way we had set our squad up.

The fact that we STILL can't win a series after that is a disgrace

You'd be basing decisions on 3 years if you're following my post.

If they play like they did in Game 6 then none. Not saying the whole team will be back because there's always changes.

They played well, they battled back, the best players were the best players. They dominated in OT, but they couldn't win. Dubas has adapted his player selection.

It's not that they lost all those other series in the past it's HOW they lost. They folded and mentally quit. This time I don't see that quit.

You can play well and still lose.

My bar is winning the cup and we're going to that. The goal isn't one round. You can't win cup in May anyway.

This team is good enough for contending for the cup and it's big risk. Big risk to change GM in this phase. How'd you hire?

When you ditch Shanahan it's months of turmoil, when we find new president, when he finds new GM that hires new coach. Then we get changes to our roster, that might make us better team. Might make us better. It isn't automatic, since this team is already pretty darn good.

If that GM fails, it's big risk that Matthews leaves, because there is pretty short time for them to sell their ideas. If blow up fails players might lose their confidence on organization.

Which big name president / GM is available that would be immediate improvement?

There haven't been that many accomplished retools in near history. Rutherford and Penguins? Colorado and Tampa are most popular choices to win Stanley Cup, those teams have steady GM that have been there for years. Actually most accomplished franchises have long term leadership.

Basicly you say that one bounce can decide the outcome, when you put it on the line in game 7.

I have no interest in more rookies we tried that and so far it's failed.

bring on pedigree

If your bar is winning the cup then idk what to say to you because we have a good chance if getting bounced Sunday.

You can't win a cup in may but you can definitely lose it.

If you don't win a single round with this team and all the talent you're gifted ( including Naz who got traded away in part because of the JT decision) then yes you need to be fired

I just can't see Matthews wanting to stay if they can't win a playoff round. Legacy is important, cups are important. Not being under fire for never getting to the 2nd rd. is unneccessary stress that he can avoid. If they lose in game 7 I think he will walk to better situation for himself and the Leafs will be forced to rebuild.

Ok. We have to agree to disagree. I'm open for changes, but I want to know those are for better. Dubas has learner every year and will win cup in this league.

I see no options that are available and better at the moment.

Having a top 5 team in the league is failing? Calling Dubas a rookie in his 10th year as a GM/Assistant GM in hockey is kind of silly. He's a good GM.

he was a rookie when he was handed the job and as of today has not gotten passed round 1 so yes as of this response he's failed
