Don't be an idiot. Dubas has made fantastic choices for the team this year. This series is not on him.
The Leafs are going to do it one year, and all they can do is little tweaks here and there.

Bunting, Kase were outstanding pickups. Our prospect pool is stacked. We just need the current crop of players to pull it off for us.
Stacked? Are you for real?

The team has 3/7 picks in the next draft and already has a bottom 3 prospect pool in the league. One of the best prospect has a brain tumor. Get real.

I actually think Dubas has built a good team too. And I thought the players around the core were good pickups.

I think it is a tough sell to run it back again, optics wise though.

We/they can quote Washington, but at least they got a round or 2 before they finally broke through.

I am kind of at a loss what they can really do to improve the team.
I've been saying this for 2 years now. All these emotional people think its so easy to make changes. The issue is Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander did not get anything done tonight. When the core players you built the team around are struggling to get it done, you can't fix things by snapping your fingers.

2020 - Dubas had a great summer. Brought in Brodie who has been super solid.

2021 - Dubas had a great summer, didn't overspend on Hyman, replaced him with Bunting who has gotten the job done.

For all you know it all's, what do you do to get this team past this hurdle?

Not here to troll or anything but it's not Dubas. Leafs fans should keep a perspective: a bad GM is Marc Bergevin not Kyle Dubas. Leafs problems are elsewhere. Maybe a management change will spark something but it can also bring a worse manager.

Of course if you think Dubas hasn't solved or figured out the problem, then maybe a change is necessary. But losing this series for instance, that's not on Dubas - he did everything he could this year.
Even Bergevin has left an excellent prospect pool and a LOT of draft picks.

Reactionary threads in the heat of the moment and the off-season make this place:
A) insufferable
B) intolerable
C) embarassing
D) all of the above?

A lot of people have to go now. Dubas and the entire coaching staff. One of the big 4 need to go, Nylander is the likeliest. Wouldn’t resign of the players hitting free agency either. This is sad. At some point you just have to win and this team has shown time and again them at it can’t.

The team needs a systematic change in play. Keefe and Dubas's analytical/soft method aint gonna work.

Team has zero playoff swagger. Zero aggression. Zero killer instinct

Absolutely there will be changes, but I’d be shocked if any of Shanny Dubas Keefe Matthews Marner Nylander Tavares Rielly are elsewhere next year. Anything else Is 100% on the table.
Edit: add Gio, but he’s not in that group for obvious reasons

There's no way we can afford gio

What has Dubas done? Most of the talent was there when Toronto took over. I guarantee if Toronto hired Marc Bergevin instead, he would have “bargain binned” a decent supporting cast and won at least one round. I also think Bergevin is an absolute idiot.

I agree with you.

Marner/Matthews and JT aren't moving. It really only comes down to moving Nylander. As tough as it is to move a player that just had a PPG player. I don't know what else you can do to drastically change the team in any sense. What does a Nylander trade even involve? No idea.

Honestly, I am really at the point where I am not sure what they can do.

Tampa is a hell of a team. Pretty clutch. Changes in personnel need to be made. This isn’t working for whatever reason.
For your info Cooper and company failed for years until they won. Trotz failed for years until he made it.

Shanny, Dubas have blinders on to the current approach.

I’m not saying they need to go but if you want to make measurable change you would need to clean house.

It is reasonable that corporate types at MLSE would say we haven’t seen improvement in 18 years let’s move on but they may just want to keep a steady set of hands.

This year was first time there were some non sellouts and another 1st round loss could shave off another percentage of true believers particularly for spending time and money on regular season.

At the end of the day bottom line will probably drive the decision and it may be change is needed simply to keep the money train moving.

No, but he has to be willing to make changes.
No this aint it.

Dubas has never shyed away from making changes. Thats not a probvlem. The question was...was he making the right changes.

His and Keefe philosophy just isn't cut out for Playoff hockey.

If dubas is responsible for who's on the team, and the team can't win, isn't he at fault?

The constant excuses for dubas are absolutely wild.

How many firts round losses before you accept that he's trash? I'm honestly curious because we are at 4 under his leadership.

If Dubass isn't fired I'm not watching a single game next year. I want the axe to drop on Keefe, Shanahan, the assistant coaches, the goalie development coach, I want heads

f*** this team

How many Dubas draft picks were in the team today? He has " stacked the pool" yet the only one to ever play has been Rasmus

How does Nick Paul beast us (our D made it easy for him but can't deny his effort level) but mik and engvall continue to do nothing.

And how did Keefe fall for their little run with the goalie pulled in game 3, costing us game 4 by losing the first period?

If Dubas continues to think mik engvall holl are playoff depth my loyalty ends in 22/23.

Goes without saying I want Trotz in for Keefe. Tampa had the lead and shortened their bench. We're still rolling 4 lines until 6 minutes left down 2-1

Why are you so sure Marner isnt moving?

I don't care about dubas but he made the best team we've had since 1993... Sometimes fate screws you.

If we fire him so be it, but I doubt it will make a difference.

Yep, soft. So soft they just lead the playoffs in penalty minutes AIWEC.
This is such a stupid argument. First of all, bulk of the penalty minutes came from that Game 1 brawl which Included Simmonds.

Every other penalty taken was a result of Stick Checks, Poke Checks, Hooking, or holding.

If this team knew how to actually implement body checking and being able to separate the puck from a player with a hit (like the Tampa defense was doing).....than we don't take a lot of those penalties.

Yes, we're soft

So, you would like the Leafs to trade Matthews, Nylander, Marner & Tavares? I'm telling you Dubas is not the issue, its our core players. Why are we pretending that we would have a different core set of players with Dubas not here? Dubas doesn't strap on skates and mail it in out there.
