Trotz isn’t Houdini. He’s a terrible fit with the Leafs current roster. The Leafs don’t have the players for Trotz to run the system that has given him a name. The lineup is to soft top to bottom. Reminds me of when Vancouver hired Tortorella and wondered why it was a disaster.
This Leafs club does have some similarities to Trotz's Cup winner in Washington. I think he works with what he has, same as Sutter in Calgary. I dont think Dubas considers a coaching change so it's a moot point unless there is a change at the top.

That’s very naive to think they don’t care. One thing I know about rich people is they all want to be richer.
MLSE is doing crazy well.

Winning cups would only increase profits a tiny fraction.

So they'd rather not then?
Makes no sense.

One thing I do know. If they were to go to the Finals, it will cost us more for playoff tickets than we pay for the entire season.
Combine that with extra concessions, etc plus not paying the players and it seems like something any business would think is worth pursuing.

Hopefully this thread gets closed by 10:30 tonight.
Amen to that .:thumbu:

Get a goalie that's what I'd do different anyway

Pretty tough to complain with what Jack has given us in this series, especially the last couple games.

I think in the moment I would've acquired a backup at the deadline, but that's been a non-story to this point in the playoffs as you hope it would be.

3.33 GAA 893 save% that's not even average goaltending, it is true Vasi has been off too, but that doesn't mean Jack has been good because overall he's been pretty bad he's got a coulpe good games but overall he's been bad

Probably Keefe, Campbell, Nylander and Kerfoot, and maybe Muzzin. All guys who are at risk of being moved anyways plus the coach. But I really only think they’re at risk if they come out completely flat.

Honestly I wouldn't touch the core, I'd just upgrade the goaltending because to me that's the major weakness.

Yeah you can move Kerfoot and replace for cheaper, Bunting proved that.

I could see Muzzin being LTIRtired it just sems like that is where this ends up.

and would certainly replace Keefe with Barry Trotz

but I don't think the issues are with the core, they have performed

Yet here you are making post after post. Give up the ruse, no one’s buying it

This was his first full season with a training camp and he smashed club records, now in the post season he currently has them neck to neck with the twice defending cup champs.

The last game I watched was game #2. I have faith in this team to get it done, little to no faith in the reffing or the integrity of the league.

Leafs should look at this game as "this is us/Leafs Nation against the world", rally around each other and put the villian down tonight despite the jobbing imposed by the refs this series.

I will be refraining from supporting the NHL next season except for the odd game I watch out of circumstance. Nor will I spend a dollar on any product I see " NHL" on it, be it a chocolate bar or a box of oatmeal.

I agree, I don't really think changes should be made if they lose from a hockey perspective, but they probably do from a PR perspective. Regardless, bad karma to discuss this before game 7. GLG!

My sentiments exactly. This thread is just further evidence that (some) Leaf fans are da woist.

It's a very valid question if they lose tonight, though.

My guess is the answer = 0, given that Keefe / Dubas have steered this team to a record setting year & they've played well in the playoffs.

But there's nothing wrong with the premise behind the thread.

No one is getting fired...they have played great this year. If not for some unfortunate bounces they would have closed it out last game.

As much as it sucks if we end up out in round 1 again the way they are playing and improving is what you want to see. They are not getting run out of the rink or scrambling like previous years.

If they get rid of Dubas or Keefe then there needs to be some sort of clear upgrade available which I don't see and the turmoil could just as easily lead to a down year and players not wanting to resign.

They won a championship in 2020 with a superstar dou of Lebron James and Anthony Davis.

then they tried to make it a big 3 with adding Russell Westbrook and boy did it fail SPECTACULARLY they missed the playoffs in 2022 because the LA Lakers completely sold their future and depth.

But I think that is a good thing ... I know just being vindictive.

Where Dubas potentially failed isn't in insulating the forward group, or the defense that's deeper than it's been in decades, possibly ever.

Where Dubas has potentially failed is the goaltending Jack Campbell has been WELL below average since December and Dubas sat on his ass. I'd be OK with Dubas coming back but I'd tell him don't touch the core and he HAS to go get a #1 goalie, a REAL, PROVEN #1 goalie.

That means Varlamov, Fluery, Gibson, Lehner address it properly Campbell is a backup and that's fine but he's not a legitimate #1
So you wanted to overpay for a goalie? Fleury would have cost multiple first rounders, Varlamov was apparently not available right now, Gibson's price would have been astronomical...

Fluery literally cost a 2nd

Varlamov said he wouldn't waive for Edmonton that doesn't mean he's not available

and you pay the price for Gibson

Well we need the next one here. Powerplay not looking great but just get one before it’s too late.

Won't help the team win a playoff series next year but sure. I'm all for closing the team down too at least I won't despise reality.
