As long as they continue to play well in the playoffs, I'm fine with the status quo. It wasn't that long ago that the mob wanted Pat Quinn gone for similar reasons and we went 9 years without seeing the playoffs. Careful what you wish for.

It should be Dubas 100% and Shanny 60% but I doubt either of them will be tossed.
MLSE is making tons of money and that’s all that matters to them

The amount lost by not being successful is not only immediate, but also in future fans, is huuuuuge.

I think Dubas likely needs to go, even though he's a great GM. Unless he comes out and makes some big moves, I don't see how he survives.

Dubas is awesome, he will be hired right away somewhere else. Might just be someone needs to come in put the finishing touches on the team.

Let's hope we don't need to think about this anymore come tomorrow night.

I think Keefe will be fired if they lose because ownership will want change and Shanny and Dubas will look to save themselves. Hire Trotz and see if he can help get the team over the hump

If the upper brass is smart… no one.

Remember the same people who want Dubas gone also told us… lmao… Lou Lam is better…

That said trades would happen. Nylander and Muzzin probably take the fall

I'd be surprised if anyone got there matching orders.

Although upper management might see it differently.
Ya I’m unfortunately thinking that they will just rerun the same thing for next season

They may take the fall but it doesn’t fix the issues

I hated Lou, was so glad he was gone. Don't want him back.

However, I do think Dubas may be relieved if we lose. We're running out of Matthews years, this core is no longer young and spritely.

Such a weird team. If they win tomorrow, I realistically think they are favourites to make the Finals. If they lose, I could foresee the GM fired, coach fired, and players moved.

Goes to show how crazy things have gotten here.

Tbh we are playing the champs from the last two years in game 7. Id say this team has come a long way. Goaltending is a issue and perhaps coaching from my standpoint. But not yet, so hyped for the game!

The only one who should be afraid is the goalie coach, and that's mainly for the season performance. The rest of the team seemed to give it their all against Tampa Bay. They're just a damn good team and Toronto had them on the ropes multiple times this series. Hard to really blame anyone if they lose.

Pat quinn took them to 2 conference finals with much MUCH less talent on his roster not even close

Yea, sure, blame the refs. Easy way out. IF they lose, that’s 3 series they blown after being up 3-2 under his watch. Would be 10 straight losses in games where they can close out a team. Why are people married to him and this core? They caused nothing but heartbreak.
You see it as the easy way out. I see it as an obvious one sided reffed game that we should have won and been in the 2nd round. It was pathetic.

I mean Lou's teams have gone to the final 4 a couple times since he got their and Dubas hasn't gotten past round 1

yes that matters

the only progress is winning a round

he was a rookie when he was handed the job and as of today has not gotten passed round 1 so yes as of this response he's failed
He was already a GM/Assistant GM at the OHL/AHL/NHL when he EARNED the job. He wasn't picked off the street and handed the keys to the mansion.

I could see if we kept finishing poorly and squeaking into the playoffs or missing completely, but this is a top 5 team and the best team the leafs have ever had.

If they don't win it's on the players and coaching staff at that point.

so just keep giving Dubas endless chances? how many more times is losing in round 1 acceptable?

that's the only reason I think he might survive because if you change the GM you neeed to bring in somebody with some pedigree and who is out there right now?

Doug Wilson? I think he has health issues

Bob Murray is dealing with addiction issues

and I can't think of anyone else.

replacing Keefe would be easier because you Trotz, Torts, Veinualt, maybe Washington fires their coach if they lose tonight.

what I do know is if Keefe and/or Dubas get fired we need people with pedigree and credibility brought in.
Doug Wilson couldn't get it done in San Hose, how does anyone think he'd get it done in Toronto?

true he didn't win but he did get to the finals, with arguably a less talented roster than we have right now.

But I don't think he is an option anyway because I'm pretty sure he has some fairly serious health issues

Shanny 100% done absolutely dickall since he arrived.

All depends on how you assess talent bud.

Yep, his teams, especially the current one, is not built for the type of hockey he played as a player.

He fails to stand up to the NHL on the referee bias going on. I think he is still working for the NHL by keeping our Leafs from being real contenders. He and his family still live in NJ, so that tells me a great deal !!!

By remaining silent on the referee issues, he's keeping his options open to return to working as an executive at the NHL head office in NY. JMHO.

If Leafs lose game 7 my guess is Sheldon Keefe falls on the sword with no other core pieces moved for at least one more year.

Making major changes to this team would be idiotic.
I don't see any major changes this summer, but, assuming playoff results stay the same, when wouldn't it be idiotic?

If that were true, MLSE would never have agreed to the 2014-16 teardown and rebuild. The current Bell-Rogers-Tannenbaum MLSE is not the same as the Teacher's Pension Fund MLSE.
I just can't see Matthews wanting to stay if they can't win a playoff round. Legacy is important, cups are important. Not being under fire for never getting to the 2nd rd. is unneccessary stress that he can avoid. If they lose in game 7 I think he will walk to better situation for himself and the Leafs will be forced to rebuild.
If the money is right and the team commits to contending, he'll stay.

After Brian Burke's huge Vancouver tirade years ago (which accomplished nothing), the league put the clamp down and imposed heavy sanctions for public criticism of officials. Yelling would accomplish nothing.

If we hire Trotz and don't win a cup...you can kiss AM goodbye...Most players that played for The L'il Budha say it's not much fun of a system to play in. But if they win with Trotz...I can see him staying..it's a gamble for sure.
