And we played like absolute shit against Montreal. But against Tampa this year? My eyes tell me the played as well as they could. And Tampa was just better by 1 damn goal gifted by the refs.

What ya wanna do? Blow it up over that?
I want accountability for perpetual failure. It's clearly too late now. They're all in on Dubas and it's gonna cost us our AM years. It was all so obvious. Only the Leafs could waste Auston Matthews....smh

Maybe they win it all next year and I have to eat shit. I'd love nothing more. But it won't happen imho.

Again...I point to you to that list of superstars who had "perpetual failure" until they won the cup.

This fan base has never drafted such glorious talent. We are all used to buying said talent after their prime. Talent takes time to develop and figure it out. As I just demonstrated factually by going back in time and listing all the players and how long it took them to figure it out.

Re. Lax.

I'm already unsure how serious this organization is about winning.

They fired their goaltending coach for liking things on Twitter.

This was after Freddie said how much dusty helped him.
Is this a joke? First off dusty worked with Soup not Fred and “liking stuff on twitter” is a bit disingenuous to the context of the matter. You’re making it out like he liked a couple big booty bitches profiles like Kurt Rambis.
He’s a MAGAT, trumper and Qanon believer with some pretty distasteful opinions. One’s that cannot be shared or affiliated with a multi billion dollar enterprise. Period

Won a cup?? Let start by winning a round.
How does that list look?

And all of those ppl won playoff rounds before going all the way. Learning how to win in the playoffs. We haven't done that.

Do you think the fan base of any of those teams cared about winning a round here or there? If you don't have selective memory, you would have remembered that Washington were doubting Ovechkin's leadership or ability to get Washington out of the second round and were wanting to move on from him.

And then he won the cup.

This fan base...I mean lessons are learned here throughout history. We will win when Matthews and Marner learn how to take over games more consistently in the playoffs. They showed windows of that this year specifically in games 1 and 5. And they are only getting better.

That's when we will win.

LOL. But you're allowed to share your hateful opinion? Weird how that works.

It wasn't until the Jays traded Fernandez and McGriff for Alomar and Carter that they were able to get to the WS.

Hard to deal any of the 3 amigos but if I can get a king's ransom for each of them, I'd be tempted to take a step back in order to potentially take two forward. I just do not want Dubas making the deals.

If we are here one year from now after another first round loss and Matty won't sign, the new GM should start selling.
That was not a step backwards move by the jays, alomar and joe carter were all star players. if there’s an equivalent deal to be made then I think everyone here would be into the conversations, it’s when posters want to trade Willy for a 4C and a 6D cuz of hits & grits that it becomes counter productive.
The raps traded DD with assets for a top 3 player. Are we able to add a first and sandin to Willy and get mcdavid or mackinnon? No? Then it’s not the same.

Dubas Resume:

- took a team that was 9th in the East to a team that was first out in Round 1.
- spent all the cap money on 4 forwards.

That just proves my point. 6 1st round wins before they won the cup. 6.

ANd that took what? 12 years from when Ovi was drafted? We don't have that kinda time thanks to the 5 year deal

No one really cares about winning a round, it’s about winning the cup. If this team beat Washington, Pitt or whoever round 1 then got skunked in round 2 by Tampa all the same peons from the peanut gallery would be taking the same pot shots as they have since Kyle took over.
This team showed it’s on the right course and that the team on the ice and in the boardroom learned from past mistakes

The team that was 9th was his

The year before he got there they made the playoffs and lost in game 7

So he's gone from first round game 7 loss on the road to first round game 7 loss at home big accomplishment

Don't forget hired one of his friends as head coach after doing a leaked media tour to drag the one that he fired. gotta add that to the resume

You say no one cares if we win a round. Yet if we lose in round two next year you'll be calling for a parade for your boy

If you ignore hypocrisy sure :)
That was the entire reason why he's suggesting the dude got fired. TMSE didn't want a representative/employee publicly supporting certain political opinions. That's their prerogative. As much as I enjoyed the Trump era...TMSE is allowed to do that.

For you to point out hypocrisy would be to show us someone else who works for the Maple Leafs who tweeted support for similar subject and not getting canned.

If you do not have one...then you are out of argument here.

Let's not dive into this one or the mods will pull their swords :)
Sure they're allowed to do that guess. Doesn't make it right.

Approved narratives only. I don't care what a goalie coaches politics are if he can get the job done.

Dubas literally said 'unfortunately our team is all white' ffs. LOL. You think that's ok? C'mon now. Far worse than liking tweets.

This is dumb now.

Do you think I like the stupid social narrative regarding woke shit? Half the reason I cheer for Tampa right now is because I like DeSantis. My politics, your politics...do not matter. We are not in the public's eye. Dubas is. He's gotta tow the social score line because we live in f***ing China now with regards to controlled speech.

But that's the way it is. Canada is at the forefront of stupid social woke garbage. When corporations make bold statements like that, it's because they want to tow the line and cash in on social score to not get cancelled or rioted against or every other f***ing thing that tends to happen when you don't put a BLM stamp on your forehead.

Until things change, and they will...that's the world we sadly live in. So I would suspect that whomever they replaced Dubas with still answers to TMLSE and as such knows not to bite the hand that feeds.

My bad if I missed a 1st round we got past. What years was that again? C'mon now.

He's making sense, you're deflecting and making excuses

It seems that you guys are having trouble understanding English. This was the original question:

Once he's fully wasted our AM years.....you finally gonna eat your crow?

My response was this:

What crow would that be?

Now I would assume you know what "eating crow" means since you used the term but apparently you don't. I was asking you what was it that I have said or claimed that would turn out to be false, thus causing me to "eat crow".

This was the answer:

That Dubas has been a failure.

But I have never said that Dubas has been a failure, therefore your statement makes no sense. I'm happy to discuss this team any time and I will always try to answer reasonable questions but let's try to follow the basic rules of the English language shall we?

I really hope that helps, and if you feel I've said something that I should be "eating crow" for, feel free to point that out and I'll try to answer you in good faith the best I can.

We're on the same page there :)

But I just gave you an example of Dubas saying some dumb shit and he faced no ramifications from it. Which is what you asked for.

Dubas has been a failure. We haven't progressed past what Babcock did with rookies. A 1st round loss.

I've been screaming about Dubas for what? 4-5 years now? Saying he's not the man to lead this team to victory. That prediction continues to be correct. Full stop. I even called us missing the playoffs after he let Hainsey walk and had the Sparks debacle. I don't want to be right about this stuff. At least he's given up on 'muh veterans are bad' sadly it costs us a few years to learn that.

As per my post, the dumb shit he said is acceptable and expected in today's woke garbage politics. That's the f***ing stupid world we live in. And I don't argue that shit on these boards because controlled speech up the ass over here.

There are separate boards to have those kinds of conversations. But while I don't agree with what he said, I understand why he said it. It's financially the smart play right now.

I asked you what is it that you think I should be "eating crow" for and instead, you keep babbling about things that you've been screaming about. I tried explaining basic English to you, not sure what else I can do but you don't seem to be able to follow the conversation. Maybe ask a friend to help or something?

Never said the Jays took a step backwards when they traded for Alomar. Trading a core piece(s) for say 4 first round picks or a couple of blue chip players (Dahlin/Power/Byram + etc.) each would be taking a step backwards.

I think you are not thinking back correctly and mixed up the actual years and you are the one 100% wrong.

The leafs would have had over 30 million in cap space going into the Nylander talks with Matthews/Marner coming the year later.
All expectations had the 3 coming in at around 22 million leaving plenty in the till on Patty's last year.

Hardly anybody I knew were worried about that last year but now some claim they did which is really strange since we were still rebuilding and had no idea a guy like JT was coming here and that the kids would get another 7 million.

Dubas signs JT to that big contract ad then gets bent over with the other 3 and overpays the planned 22 mil by a large margin.
Viola,Dubas creates his own giant mess that not a single fan I know could possibly see coming.

It is easier for Dubas fans to look back and blame it on Lou after the fact but looking with clear eyes it was never going to be a concern until Dubas made it one.
All three for your "planned" $22 million is a figment of your imagination. 25, maybe 24, was the low end. Matthews was getting at least 10 no matter the term.
Matthews will not be a Leaf after next season. Book it.
If the money is right and he's happy with the team's direction (which he seems to be), what's his incentive to leave? Not making the playoffs I can buy. Losing in the 1st or 2nd round for years hardly ever is.
Who did better in the playoffs, us or Florida? Does beating a weak Washington team before getting smoked 4-0 with embarassing scores make you feel better than a competitive series with the same team?
Florida. If you go further, you did better.
Dubas is probably the smartest gm we've ever had. And who the f*** would you guys replace him with?
If Dubas gets canned, probably some assistant GM from another team.
I would've liked to have seen what Burke for example could've done with this team instead of the JFJ mess he got
Burke could have had his own version of a blank slate. Instead he thought the Kessel trade and Komisarek signing would quickly improve the team.
I wish Q was the Leafs coach
So we could have seen him replaced here earlier this season instead of Florida? No thanks.
The 17-18 Leafs finished 7th in the standings, 9th in regulation wins, 11th in xGF%, with their elite core all on ELCs.

These Leafs finished 4th in the standings, 3rd in regulation wins, 1st in xGF%.
More proof that the regular season means little beyond making or missing the playoffs.
