And has anyone ever done that at NHL level? These seem to be such different skills.

At the AHL skills challenge LA prospect Colin Miller won both events today breaking AHL record in the process with 105.5 mph

Somehow this guy was not even drafted in his draft year in 2011. :help:

I don't know how hard it is, but the big defensemen have been dominant in the hardest shot, and I don't see any speedster manning a stick as stiff as Shea's anytime soon.

Excited to see how well Colin Miller does in the NHL all-star game. Not discounting him, but it's a bit easier to make it into the AHL all-star game.

Sergei Fedorov won both, though I don't think they were the same year.

Bit of a different time, too. No Weber or Chara, and I don't think MacInnis was competing the year he won hardest shot. It would also require them to compete in both the same year.

He won it with a 101.5 mph slapshot In 2002. Could maybe shoot it 105 mph with today's sticks.

Actually Semin probably legitimately could have done it had he made it at least once.

The obvious solution is to combine the two: multiply shot by time

I seem to recall something from a while back about Chad Kilger winning both of these competitions for the Leafs, but that could also just be a statement about the ineptitude of those Leaf teams

How good a skater was josh godfrey? For some reason hes one of the first players that came to mind when i thought of someone who might win both. I honestly cant remember if he could skate or just had a good slap shot though

Feds has won both and he also is tied with the fastest time ever laid down with Gardner. This was back when stars actually went to the all star game.

Blake and Fedorov were modern day Chara. I think Parrish could rip it too.

The hardest shot competition was a bit of a joke, for some reason they left out Pulkkinen who is known for having a crazy shot. Pulkkinen was interviewed in a magazine about the upcoming AHL all-star game yesterday and said that he had selected the fastest shot competition as his preferred one in the pre game questionnaire. His shot was a bit over 100mph a few years ago when he was playing in Europe, I bet it has improved a bit with his increase bulk.

The Holey Slapper.I think he could give the NHL guys a run no problem.
