He was obviously not one of the top-3 impact players that postseason.

It was clear as day.

Pronger, Peca, Roloson...

Pisani was part of a trio on the next tier.

100%. Not that Pisani wasn't good and overachieving during the 05-06 run, but he also benefited immensely in the media from being a hometown Edmonton kid during that run.
 
That season was a bit unique in that the teams with the most depth were far-and-away better than the teams with the bigger stars, at least in terms of forwards. Carolina, Buffalo, and obviously Edmonton lacked a ton of big-name offensive players that year but had guys like a Pisani or a Stillman or a Dumont who were serviceable and could be plugged in wherever. Pisani was having a moment but it wasn't sustainable as the league reverted back to some sense of normalcy after.
