How was he denied exactly? I was thinking about this just the other day. He said he'd leave if he had to, I remember the Caps GM saying he could go. What happened?

He feels irrationally angry at Gary Bettman because he doesn't know how negotiations and his own union work.

Whoever decide, decided not to go at open war against NHL. Again, I think.
Without nhl players this tournament has less meaning than the World Championship. Heck even the world cup means more at this point

More than a lot of players in the past.
He could of been there but he chose money over country pride. So he only has himself to blame.

Crosby had 11 points in 9 games and with the win joined the illustrious IIHF Triple Gold Club for his efforts.

Boy oh boy. Ovechkin just can't please some of you no matter what he does.

Also doesn't help that crosby for the most part is still playing until half way through the tournament is over.
Ovechkin is always done his nhl season before even game 2 of the tournament.
He was all talk for months and months leading up to the decision. And as per usual with ovechkin thats all he was is hot air.
