You'd have to give Mikko Rantanen what Draisaitl got imo in the open market, maybe more. Many teams would pay him.

Think 8 years 110-115 is a starting point. ( I'm personally not against it totally, just hope the defense isn't ignored. )

But just buckle up cause lots of fans get scared of big numbers and can't fathom a team with a player with a double digit million-dollar cap hit figure.

1 Lalonde fire
2. Kane try to trade him for whatever
3. Chiarot, still has trading value, Avs will be good place for him, second
4 Lombardi , Mazur, Elmer, Danielson call up fo evaluation
5. Tarasenko and Lyon at the deadline, both could get 2 +
6. Overpay, I don't care for #3 defansman next spring -summer .

The full bottom half of our forward group is individually pacing for less than 25 points. Only 4 players on the roster above 0.5 ppg. Yikes. Lots to fix.

- Keep Lalonde until the end of the season
- Embrace the tank
- Select a great forward that hopefully can join the lineup as soon as next season
- Get a new coach
- Danielson starts next season with the Wings. Maybe ASP?
- Husso, Petry, Kane gone and perhaps try and get rid off some of the bad contracts with just 1 year remaining(I imagine Copp and Compher will be too tough yet).

And go from there.

Rantanen would be my choice. Best playoff numbers, cup exp, good balanced scorer. I'd go to 12 for Miko maybe higher if the cap goes higher. I was using a 90 mil cap.

I just went with Ehlers as I think his cost control will be better and I think there is a greater chance he hits FA with peg.

Marner is fine if we plan to deal most of our smaller wing prospects to upgrade other areas. I'm a little leary of signing a playmaker to big time bucks just because we don't have a lot of scorers on this team. We certainly have no one of Mathews caliber.

With that said. I think if we are ok eating a bit of money, promoting kids and acting aggressively Stevie could turn around the team pretty quickly. We aren't locked into tons of unmoveable contracts just ones we'd need to eat money one.

We just can't sign anymore mid- late 30s dump contracts or 3rd line defensive centers that we pray will be 2nd liners.

We also desperately need an NHL with some actual head coach exp. At least Blash looked a little mad on occasion.
I'm not knocking Ehlers specifically, but everyone on that second tier after Marner/Rantanen. If we're not going big, I wouldn't be enthusiastic for any forward outside of a one year deal again. I'm not interested in going all out to turn everything around in one year, and I think we can make incremental improvements over time from within. What we arguably don't have is that top level.

With Marner, I think he can act as the premier puck distributor on a second scoring line, what Kane used to be in Chicago. He helps alleviate the worry that we don't have a second high level scoring center.

With the kids coming up, we shouldn't need to sign any more Copp/Compher/Chiarot level guys. That's what I've seen as the goal: getting our system up to filling out bigger chunks of the lineup so we can free up resources to plug the remaining holes.

Guess we can give up on the fowler nonsense . Rather give up a 2nd in a deal for a 8 year younger hague

Didnt the blues send back a player that we invited to camp once? Lol wont even attempt to write his name
