Wings were on a 100 point pace with Larkin and were last in the league without him. Trading Larkin should not be talked about as the solution.

So... again, when is it do you just start to realize you might not win a cup or even make consistent playoff appearances. 2 years from now with no playoffs? 3, 4, 5. Never, he gets a pass forever?

I didn't say trading him was a solution to anything other than signaling the next rebuild. I don't want to trade him if we're serious about winning. Thats not what I was saying. Just like, how long is his leash here I guess.

Seriously, did Larks steal your dog or something?
Is he your BF? No, it's just wild to compare Yzerman's road to a Stanley cup and Larkins career so far as if they correlate somehow. They're not similar.

An if Red Wings are serious about winning, I want him around, I just asked, when does the question begin if at all. Seemingly some say never. If Red Wings continue missing playoffs, I think it's a legitimate conversation.

I haven't read all the messages so forgive me if I'm beating a dead horse, BUT.

I'm okay with not re-signing Kane, if it means we can bring Pesce in. Gives us a bona fide shut down RHD, opening Mo up to play a little more liberally, especially on PP1.

I view it the same but doesn't exclusively need to be a defenseman. If Kane is gone, I expect he looks for a replacement plus another difference maker up front. He mentioned he wants more offense still. Defensively this team needs an upgrade on basically all fronts.

I don’t really like suggesting there is some black/white way to “fix” the team, but this is what I would do.

1) Prioritize clearing cap space however possible so I can be a player in free agency.

2) Aggressively pursue Pesce and Montour in free agency. If we can start next year with a top 4 of Walman, Seider, Edvinsson, Montour/Pesce I think this team can look worlds better. Would give us a lot more stable and talented back end.

3) Bring in a forward or two to off-set the potential loss of Kane/Sprong/Perron. I think Toffoli could be a good replacement for Sprong or Perron. I think Teravainen could be a good replacement for Kane.

4) Explore trades. We have a decent pool of picks/prospects at our proposal.

5) Continued growth from young players and prospects.

Extra - I would love to find a way to get better in net… but not sure how to do that until our prospects arrive. I am hoping improving the blue line helps out the goaltending.

Reminder that Copp and Holl money could be allocated to a guy like Stamkos instead. This is the key to us breaking through. Using the cap space properly. Instead of 2 mid players get one star instead.
Stamkos? Is this 2012?

I understand you aren't necessarily saying Stamkos specifically, but it brings me back to the good old days.

1. Pray for Cossa or Augustine to become truly no. 1;
2. Pray for SteveY to fool one of the GMs trading us a 1st line center;
3. Wait till D is fully developed.

We are 2-3 years away from making the playoffs if we'll ever be there with this roster.

Meaning that Yzerman would be 7-8 years without the playoffs.

I cannot fathom how any of you view that as even remotely acceptable. The fact that we're sitting here at the end of Year 5 and he's still not made the playoffs as Red Wings GM is a major problem.

And spare me the "oh but he improved them every year" nonsense. At some point, you need to start producing meaningful results. Why these sports executives get an unlimited runway until they finally start producing said results I find nothing short of astounding.

Yeah! Bring Holland back! Or let Draper become the GM! Or maybe we can lure Lou Lamoriello over and he can make everyone shave!

I guess what I'm saying is.... is everything perfect? No. But I'd rather let Yzerman sort it out than most other Plan Bs.

I like Peace, great shut down guy now.

I fear the contract and term won't age well.

Red Wings sign F Sean Monahan to a 4 year contract worth 20 million, 5 million per year.
Are you not aware of his injury history? Wrist, groin, 2 herniated discs, and hip surgery on both sides.

If Kuznetzov leaves Carolina, would he ve an option for number two center? I think the sinus should sign 🪧 r trade for a big bodied scorer and as much as I like Fabbri, it's time for him to go. I am a big fan of RB. Maybe resign Sprong, JV and trade or buyout Holl. Hope that Husso comes back healthy and give Cossa a few games along with Lyon.
Kuz got a 4 year IIHF ban for cocaine and went through PAP this season. Zero chance.

Then spare me the lack of credit for missing the playoffs by a literal C hair. If you can't see the legitimate year over year improvement and count that as a meaningful result, then I suspect your runway's way too short for takeoff.

Team needs to draft better and get more players that way. Hopefully Yzerman’s picks pan out but the latter part of Holland’s tenure was awful for talent from the draft. Only recent expansion teams Vegas and Seattle had fewer drafted players in the NHL last season than Detroit.

Speaking for myself, I find it acceptable because I'm looking at it in context of where the team was at and where it is now, and not just focusing on an arbitrary time limit.

I'd rather this team try and rebuild sensibly than make desperation moves. Those kinds of actions are how teams end up in purgatory.

It could also be that I've watched the team since they were the Dead Wings so don't view them being great as something I'm owed as a fan.

Need to have some home run draft picks, especially later rounds. Who do we have second round or later who might be a solid NHL player?

Also, last few years 1st round drafting has been brutal. Everyone saying how great Danielson is, to put things in perspective, Yager at 14th has 95 points in 57 points. Almost 40 points more than Danielson.

Who do you honestly expect to hit a home run with using a 2nd round pick and beyond? Your expectations are astronomically off-base. No wonder your posts are always so miserable and inconsistent.

Last few years you say, yet haven't you been pumping ASP's tires this season? Also doesn't that include Edvinsson and Cossa?

You keep shitting on Danielson but I guarantee you could not give a lick of an assessment of his game. If you're scared or fearful about how he turns out, maybe you should try watching him play. That, or remember what preseason was like with him on the Wings roster.

P.S. he has 67 points in 54 games. Yager has 28 more points in 3 more games, not "almost 40 points". Your reaching is weak.

Thing is we don't know how good are our prospects until they actually in NHL. We have one of the best prospect pool and how many games did Berggren and Edvinsson played last season ?
