Given Sweden won the Gold and shocked the hockey world with their "Gold" helmets, we Red Wing fans would like to know how prospects Calle Jarnkrok and Mattias Backman did. Anyone follow the series or have a link to a stats site?

I didn't watch at all but I know that Backman wasn't even on the team and Jarnkrok didn't play the last few games. 1 assist in 10 games for him.

Only Järnkrok played and he had to sit the last games. Didnt get much out of his play, he needs to get stronger.

He did run Swedens PP in the round robin games, but didnt make much of if, and when the Sedins came, apparently the Swedish Coaching staff didnt see more use of him.

Järnkrok was a disappointment. I really don't know what went wrong, I liked what he did on the ice, but the production just didn't come.

But hey, last season a Swedish Champion and this season a World Champion. He got everything that is possible to WIN at Europe.

Now it's time to build a career at North America.

Can he join the griffins again for their playoff run. Of course they will finish off the Marlies.

I can't see why not.

At this point of the season I think it's time to hit the gym and get ready for camp. He hasn't looked 100% fit since March.

Actually he said in a Swedish interview he's taking a break for two weeks now and then starts his summer training.

He probably needs the summer training. But will renew my point of being disappointed that he even went to this thing and eventually was bumped down the lineup when the Sedin's showed up. Good for him that he has a gold medal and I know guys want to play for their nation. But they didn't really use him all that much and Jarnkrok could be growing as a player right now in Grand Rapids. Oh well, hope he gets it cranked up in a couple weeks and comes to camp in tip top shape, really only has a month after taking two weeks off before he is due in the prospects camp just after the fourth of July.

i didnt notice järnkrog at all at the wc. i saw him a the roster at the beginning of every game but thats it. i dont know why he was on the tem at all. for sure he didnt deliver what was advertised here by some people.
at the moment i cant see him ending in the nhl. even mediocre european player from non elite leagues were stronger and better then him.

he has a long way to go before he can do some damage in the nhl.

From what I recall the current Red Wings goal for Jarnkrok is to see him put on some weight and muscle. Don't remember the exact number though.

What went wrong is that he's light, weak, and unready to play against NHL-caliber opposition.

Fortunately, this is all fixable. But those who said earlier on in the season that he should be inserted into the playoffs ASAP should be feeling a tad silly right now.

In my mind he played well. Created chances. Pucks just didn't go in, and maybe got frustraded. Then World Class Sedins came and he was replaced. Maybe it wasn't easy to fly over Atlantic all the time for a young kid.

Mental things. On the ice he played like always.
