This thread will be updated after each vote in Round 2 of the Top 60 Goaltenders project.

We're going to put through the top 6 to start.

Also, it turned out that the extra week of discussion proved neither redundant nor unnecessary, as quite a few people changed their votes.

I had Roy #1 and Hasek #2 - but overall have no issues with this ranking.

To me at his best Hasek is #1 - but I think Roy's career, especially playoffs, makes him "greater" - but it's so close.

It's interresting that in both the 2012 goalie project and 2018 top 100 list we had Roy above Hasek as the #1 goalie - so this will be the first time since the 2008 top 100 list that this forum ranks Hasek above.

I'd love to hear the rationale for the voter who had Roy #6, and Plante #7. Those seem surprising to me.

I ended up with Plante at 1...surprised I was alone there. I thought there'd be a couple of those.

I'm also the Hasek 5th place vote. He got to the 3 or 4 area at a point, but ultimately, I put Sawchuk over him at the end.

Nice to see Brodeur overtake Hall.

Roy at 6, Hall at 3, and Dryden at 3 all interest me. In any case, the result matched my ballot so I guess I'm mr. Boring.

I figured you were the Hasek at 5. Plante at 1 makes sense and is something I almost did.

I get where you're coming from even if that's not how I voted.

I like when people vote against the grain as long as it's defended.

I remember the chaos of the Gretzky at 7 vote. Weird, but was defended logically.

Fair enough -- it's not like you weren't vocal, I just didn't expect it would result in 5th.

For the record, my own controversial contribution was Sawchuk 8th. Lots of contemporary appreciation, but A LOT of it reads like whoever calling Carey Price the best goaltender in the world in 2019.

I voted at midnight because I too was wrestling with Hasek vs Sawchuk.

My lone wolf 8th place vote was for Glenn Hall. As a regular season goalie he was good, but he doesn't create a lot of separation from Sawchuk and Plante with his margins of 1st AS wins, or from Denis DeJordy behind the same solid defensive team.

I had him behind Tretiak and Dryden because Playoff Hall is the one in the group who seems most unlikely to steal you a tough playoff game on the road.

We'd have liked to put 4 through this round to get us back to an even 10 in total. But the breaks are at 3/4 and 5/6, the former leaving us at 9 total inductees and the latter leaving us at 11, neither one being ideal.

We decided to go with the top 3 for now. Since there was interest in extending the discussion for another week after votes had already started coming in, we think this is a good compromise where we can inject some new names into the equation while still working to hammer out as much consensus on the early guys as possible.

Going with 5 this week. Lundqvist goes right in on the first try, while Durnan and Belfour separate themselves from the pack with Benedict and Broda of last week.

Lundqvist gets the tiebreak over Durnan for finishing ahead on more ballots.

Insane results for Vasilevskiy - completely nuked by NRs in a way that I've never seen before in these projects.

Vasi is really hard to place. I think he's suffering from being a modern, active guy. I ended up voting him 4th, but very seriously considered NR myself (i know it's a huge gap).

I think if we fast forward 5 years, it'll help gain better perspective on Vasi, and ranking him will become easier and more accurate.

Anyways - we'll continue to talk about him in the next round, so I'll save it for there.

Not much discussion on Belfour so I'm surprised he got in.

Happy Vezina and Gardiner are finally in so we can move on.

Edit: Looks like I transcribed my list wrong and voted Vezina 2/Gardiner 1 when I meant to do the opposite. Woops. But it didn't impact the final results.

It's very concerning to me - on a couple of fronts - that Vasilevskiy was considered the 11th goalie on that list by that many panelists. That's really tough. First goalie available that wasn't listed on the previous list, right?

Yeah... we don't really like doing it, but there's only one substantial break in the totals, so we're taking the top 7. I guess we could go with only the top 4? But then we'd be left with 18 total inductees, and we'd really be scrambling to get back to our target of 5 per round. I don't mind going with 7 here since all of the inductees saw a lot of discussion this past week, so it's not like anyone's slipping through the cracks.

Vasilevskiy in 1st on a tiebreak, he was ahead on more ballots than Bower.

We're really starting to see votes everywhere for all candidates. The only opinions that reached any sort of consensus were that Bower ought to go in, and Thompson ought to stay out.

I thought this round's discussion was especially productive. Hopefully we get more like it going forward. With a lot of turnover in the list of candidates this week, and considering it's a long weekend coming up, if we think we need some extra time for vote 5, please let it be known in the discussion thread.

Makes sense to induct 7, based on those results, so good decision.

Carey Price slotting behind Vasilevskiy and Luongo is a bit ridiculous to me. At no point in their careers would gms/coaches have picked either/or above Price. Especially Luongo.

My bottom 4 were bottom 4 in this vote, so I agree with that.
