Panarin is good but don't they need the depth these guys bring even with Panarin?

All the forwards on Florida are on pretty good contracts, maybe they should clear up that 8m they have tied to goaltending.....

I wonder if Tallon is going to be working with an internal cap.

Maybe the thought is trading away something that will give them a return and save some cap space.

They're spending close to the cap now and are trying to add $18M+ in salary. I think it's a safe bet that there's no internal cap

That's just it they are spending and not doing well. Is it not possible ownership is putting a limit for next year?

I feel like Boston would be a great fit for him, especially since they are rumoured to be hesitant to give up top assets for a rental

Maybe something around Donato and a pick could work

All three are skilled top six lwers . If they bring in panarin they are better used as currency for a dman

bruins need a RW, not a LW. and arguably their bigger need is at center.

Title is misleading. It’s a curiosity of his. All indications point to the Panthers not moving either one. Of course things could change, depending on the deal available.

Idk I think it has legs to it. If they truly believe they are going to be getting Pana then they will have:

Pana, Hoffman, Hubby, Dads , Tippett, Denisenko, Heponiemi etc. That is serious prospect depth for days and they will need to clear some cap space to do so. It makes a lot of sense to move from a position of strength to address some area's of weakness all while clearing cap space.

All their best players/prospects are forwards, it maybe wouldn't be the worst idea to trade Hoffman for futures/x and keep building for next season+ future.

From my post in the Huberdeau thread:

The premise of the Bjugstad trade was to clear space. That is what was reported by everyone, and that came from Tallon himself. The Huberdeau news is from a so-called expert suggesting him (per the most recent The Atlantic article):

When Bjugstad was traded to Pittsburgh along with Jared McCann for Derick Brassard, Riley Sheahan and three draft picks, Tallon not only cleared money off next year’s salary (to make a run at Panarin and/or Bobrovsky?), he also acquired more tradable assets.

On Monday, Frank Seravalli added Huberdeau’s name to the TSN ‘Trade Bait Board’ as he speculated the Panthers could use the talented winger as part of a potential blockbuster deadline deal with the Blue Jackets for both Artemi Panarin and Sergei Bobrovsky.

The Panthers are not shopping Huberdeau and, according to a source within the organization, are not currently talking to the Jackets about either of their high-profile pending free agents.

Would the Panthers like to have one of those players? Yes.

Would they love to have both of them? Absolutely.

And it may just take the likes of a Huberdeau to make such a deal by the deadline — although it’s extremely plausible (and even likely) the Panthers just end up selling some of their own free agents come Feb. 25 and wait until the offseason to try to land Columbus’ big fish.

It has no legs. And if you check some of my other posts, you can see how the salary cap space breaks down, and how it works for at least a season.

Denisenko and Heponiemi are a few seasons away. The only prospect who will probably play next season is Tippett. If they were to get Panarin, and keep Huberdeau and Hoffman at least for next season, our top nine could look like this:

Panarin - Barkov - Dadonov
Huberdeau - Trocheck - Vatrano
Hoffman - Borgstrom - Tippett

Panthers so hot for Bobs and Breadman why don't they make this easy and send Hoffman and Hubs now get it over with? Pretty sure Jackets take that in heartbeat if losing them anyway for nothing in off season. Panthres can add Reimer and a pick or two for Reimers negative value.
