Has anybody read Prime Minister Stephen Harper's book? May not like his politics but apparently he knows a thing or two about hockey.

I just got a bunch of hockey books in the mail a few weeks ago. Unfortunately I don't remember the names if them but I would recommend Mario Lemieux biographies and autobiographies if you're interested in that. I also have a hockey trivia book with all kinds of information that I recommend as well.

Funny, I just read this thread again today and I was looking through a box I hadn't done much with since I moved and found "The Hockey News Top 10" coffee table book.
I got it last X-mas and I guess it just got packed away during the holidays and forgotten about.
Printed in 2012.

Pretty interesting lists.

Doesn't have an overall top 10 in it but it does have 65 different top 10 lists ranging from top 10 hockey movies to top 10 irish named players heh.

History Of Hockey Books

I know there was a list of suggested reading material from a previous thread, but I can't find it anywhere. I'm looking for some books to read and purchase.

This thread is linked prominently in the "all-purpose mega sticky" thread. Next time, if you are looking for a prominent thread, check there first.

What is the best book about hockey in the 1800s? I'm currently reading "Win, Tie, or Wrangle: The Inside Story of the Old Ottawa Senators 1883-1935", and I'd like to know a bit more about the very early days of hockey.

Heh, I don't even know where to begin. :D

Probably at the beginning of the game with...

1) The Pictorial History of Hockey - 1988
2) 100 Years of the Stanley Cup
3) The Official NHL 75th Anniversary
4) Illustrated History of Hockey - The Hockey News
5) Whats the Score

and so on... Lots of photos in those above, then Id dive into Dick Irvins book & the Habs thereafter & so on & then just work your way through the decades. Fun journey.

Looking to amass information about Soviet hockey before the fall of the Iron Curtain, with an emphasis on international play. What are my best bets?

I got Bobby Orr's new book for XMas. It was okay...but not great. Having the next 6 weeks off....I may order Terry Ryan's book and book on Expos, Up, up and away this morning.
