Hockey Canada releases new centennial jersey

Dear Hockey Canada,

Triple-facepalm.jpg

Horrible, horrible design.

Haven't we had 100 year celebrations each year for the past 6 years and will each year up until 2017?

Hockey Canada chief operating officer Scott Smith introduced the jersey Wednesday at Toronto's MasterCard Centre.

"It's a high performance jersey," Smith said. "It allows out teams to pursue goal medals, of which we plan on bringing a few more home next year."

Uh oh...If you though Team Canada was dominant before, wait until you see how good they are with these new "high-performance jerseys."

It looks a bit subpar, but not terrible. Hard to tell from the pictures, though, because sometimes the jerseys actually look better when actually worn.

Just garbage, as usual.

Red and white with a Maple Leaf should be a real easy scheme to get beautiful and correct yet these guys always seem to make a mess of it.

I don't know what their problem is mentally.

I like it. I don't see anything super-wrong with it. It's fine.

Just curious, but does HC ever do anything in your estimation that is worth criticizing or they can do no wrong? every money grab is the right one and every decision they make both on a national and local level is the right one? All hires are the correct hires and every promotion is well deserved no matter what the results are? Listen, I'm critical of HC... but I'm not always critical..... but you seem to be the forever Yes Man! It's a little bit troubling. So, does HC do anything which you do not agree with or like?

I'd like them a lot better without the shoulder yoke. They look awkward as hell. I also am not a fan of wordmarks. It's not a very nice looking jersey, but I don't hate it. I've got more of an issue with the Nike jersey template than the design.

I do think that this women's jersey looks much better (It's got a much better shoulder): https://shop.hockeycanada.ca/detail/944

Somebody has to be positive here. ;)

Nobody is perfect, of course. They do mistakes, naturally. And, it's always only natural to be more critical when Canada is not winning. But I believe they've done a good job so far, even though it could be better, of course. I definitely think that when the results are not good enough, there needs to be change, you always need to get better no matter how good you are now.

Talking about the jerseys, I don't like so much the olympic jersey in 2014, even though it's not so bad, it's just different. I think that the jersey pack in Sochi was bad overall. But, on the other hand, now with Canada winning the gold there, it looks quite good :D

Outside of the Olympics which is an NHL show, point to the results over the past 5 years that suggest Hockey Canada has been doing a good job...And don't talk about the number of Canadians drafted into the NHL or 19 of the top 30 NHL scorers are Canadian, Hockey Canada has little do with this, that is due to the player's own blood, sweat and tears and the hard word and dedication of family and coaches on a local level.. The only thing Hockey Canada on a national "big picture" level needs to worry about is winning tournaments, nothing else. And over the past 5 years where NHL executives haven't been around to save them, they haven't won squat, except 1 u18 tournament...they have been woefully inept.

its atrocious. On the red version replace the black with white, on the white version replace the black with red

Saw them at a sports store last weekend and they look a lot better when you see them up close.
