Some Key Notes:
Mikheyev makes his first official return after signing as a UFA with the Canucks. Expected tribue and hattrick for Ilya tonight.

Tensions ensue in the Leafs nation regarding on ice play, goalie conondrums, Coaching stubbornness and Fans frustration.

Two teams set to battle tonight where fanbase is up in arms about on ice results

But....

Tonight its about Börje Salming and we hope that the boys show up to play and display the respect with their on ice play for Börje.

First class GDT my Leafs friend.

I started the GDT for the Canucks & didn’t know it was Borje night.

On a related note, thank you @Burnie97 for the recommendation to catch the Pre-Game Ceremony last night. It was heart wrenching, truly touching & amazing to see Sittler & Sundin overcome with emotion and the look on Borje’s face when he acknowledged the crowd.

That will stay with me a long time.

Nice effort on the GDT.

There's been some good ones lately. Hopefully Leafs can throw that whole effort thing back at us. Let's f***ing go Leafers. Crush a team for once tonight.

No problem. Glad you checked it out. Emotional forsure. I can't remember him playing much because I was pretty young then but obviously have seen old games and clips and how my Dad has talked about him. A lot of the people on here too saying a lot of great things and paying tribute.

I can’t ‘Like’ this one, as a Canucks fan, but I’m hoping for an entertaining game, no injuries either side & perhaps an OT finish so both Teams get something.

I was able to watch Borje for a fair amount of his career. My Dad was really old school & didn’t like the idea of Europeans coming over to take Canadian jobs, as he saw it. However, after a few Seasons, Borje changed his mind.

It might not seem like a compliment, but it’s one of the biggest I can think of, personally.

Fair point on the whole being a Canuck fan lol. Definitely hoping for at least a point. Who knows with Kallgren in net again. He's come in and done alright in a couple games but Leafs have to outscore there problems right now (injuries, goaltending) and so far haven't really been doing it.

As for Borge, glad he helped start that trend to change people's minds. Hockey is better for it in my opinion.

Salming blazed the trail for many (i would say all) Europeans to the NHL. Salming is a true legend.

And to show how hockey transcends the borders and lines drawn by different countries and their so called leaders... don't look further than

Sittler, a Canadian, choked up with emotion for his brother in arms Salming, a Swede.

There is a reason why hockey is the most beautiful sport in the world.

Hockey truly transcends boundaries drawn up by mankind.

Mikheyev plays on the first line there? Yikes
Yeah I was surprised to see that. Although looks like they're probably trying to spread the offense through their lineup.

Their problem looks to be D. Not sure if goaltending has been as bad as it looks but their numbers aren't too good.

Cheers, GP.

Hopefully both teams honour Salming with their play tonight and may the best team win. :fight:

It's definitely getting better. Every sport should be inclusive. It shouldn't matter where you come from.

Like to see Marner and Matthews split.... 11 million each, there lack of production is unacceptable, especially together. Split them up and maybe they will have some healthy internal competition to produce.
