Just read Hadamczak's explanation for the poor Czech results. Fatigue. Mostly jet lagged as they arrived with very little time to acclimatize. Also, tomorrow's game will be tough because it will be the 4th game in 5 days. Jet Lag might be true but I wonder how much earlier Russia arrived to Red Deer? They would've had a similar flight and have not suffered from any jet lag at all to my eye.

The USA team is a Select Team and not the NTDP Team. Still some really good players but likely doesn't have the depth they will need to be successful against the top teams from Canada and Russia.

Another excuse was that our group was "extremely" hard. This is totally beyond me. Would Canada or Sweden be more acceptable?
I really hate that he is the coach of these kids. It's not even about his coaching abilities but I really don't want this attitude of his to be transmitted on those juniors.

I don't know about "extremely", but pre-tournament I thought Switzerland, Slovakia and Sweden are the 3 weakest teams at the tournament. Now as the tournament went, both Sweden and Slovakia were better than I thought they would be, while Czech Republic and Finland struggled. Groups are going "head-to-head" now with the semis and placement games coming up, so it will be easier to compare them.
That being said, even if Finland was swapped to the other group for one of Slovakia or Switzerland, we still wouldn't have made it to the semis so groups shouldn't be considered as the source of Czech failure.

So now Albin Grewe has a broken finger too. Two broken fingers/tournament is pretty standard for the Swedish teams these days.
What. Russia is too good to lose 2 good players. Gold is gone, now i just hope for more raymond holtz points

I was surprised, how weak they looked, so these are not the best players of this age-group?

No, the kids that are part of the USA NTDP were not invited to attend the selection camp for the U18 Team that plays in this tournament. Instead they form what is referred to as USA Select U18. Still some really good players, but the USA system does not seem to have the depth to field two internationally competitive teams. I am not sure how good a second team from Canada, Russia or Sweden would look either. Great opportunity to get a look at other kids though.

Just read it's six weeks minimum. Could be out until October which is brutal. Even at 17 he's a clear leader and best player on the ice for Moncton every night.

Moncton's season begins with 4 games in very late September. I doubt he'll be out for more than those 4. He'll be 7 weeks into the recovery by October 1st.

This age group is a bit odd for both Canada and the USA. Their best U18 players don't face each other.

The USA's U18 NTDP team focuses on the world championship, held in the spring when most of Canada's best U18s are involved in CHL playoffs with their club teams. The strongest Canadian U18 team appears at the Hlinka, and, as @Hcokeydad64 describes above, the USA sends what is essentially a B team.

Hence, each team tends to perform quite well in one tournament, but not nearly as well in the other.
