UPDATE: Starting with Post 80.

We have an owner who's not able to manage their team anymore. If anyone wants to join the league, we'd love to have you take over Team Wyzer Plan. Roster is pretty solid, season has gotten off to a rough start for them, but mostly because of inactivity. You can build this team back up and the playoffs are still well within reach.

Let me know what you think!

Alright, Year Seven in our league starts now!

Here's the previous winners:
2018 MD Spartys
2019 Benchworth Bullmoose (contracted)
2020 Team Martinez
2021 Jasteroids
2022 Turkleton Turkeys
2023 Jasteroids

Keep eight players. Keep an additional three prospects if you have them. Prospects are position players drafted three or less years ago or goalies drafted five or less years ago. Prospects have played less than fifty games in the NHL. If you have any players that were added to rosters after leaving college last year (Luke Hughes, Matthew Knies, don't think there's many others who fall in this category that someone might have added last year), they're not eligible to be selected as keepers because they were not eligible to be drafted previously. This is because Yahoo doesn't add college players until they're signed to pro contracts and that happens after college seasons end.

We typically do the draft date on the last Sunday night before the season starts at like 9:30 EST. So I guess September 29. Will this work for everyone? It looks like the season starts on October 4 in Prague.

If that's when the season starts, I'll probably set the keeper deadline for September 27. Hopefully there's no significant injuries in preseason but you never know.

If anyone has any questions about prospect eligibility or anything else as you set your keepers, let us know in here.

Here's who owns all the teams (let me know if I have this wrong obv):

HF Login - Yahoo Team Name
Sparty - MD Spartys
Martin Elz - The Håkan Anderssons
The Zetterberg Era - Holland's Revenge
jaster - Jasteroids
saska sault - SaskaSault
Martinez - Team Martinez
turkleton85 - Turkleton Turkeys
Winger98 - Winger98
Wyzer Plan - Wyzer Plan
Electric Eric - Ypsi Bitsy Spiders

Here's the link to the Season Six thread in case you want to relive any of that:

Oof, that'll be 3am ish my time. Guess that gives me a built in excuse to why my drafting results were bad. I'll make it happen though.

Whats the draft order?

@Sparty Keepers are set.

Rest of y'all leaning towards this being a rebuild year, don't have much in the way of prospects or younger players. Open to trades before the draft.

Alright, I finally got a chance to lock in the keeper and draft dates and set the draft order. We're going off last year's regular season standings. Since the top two teams faced each other for the title, we're just going in reverse order of record.

wyzerplan
winger98
MD Spartys
Ypsi
saska
Martinez
Holland
martin
Turkleton
Jaster

I don't think it's right to move teams up or down in the order because of how they did in the playoffs, because the only ones who are actively trying to win are the ones who still have a chance for the title. As commish I'm not going to set everyone's rosters for them.

If we want to change it next year so that teams can earn the first overall pick then that's a conversation we can have too, but then I don't really think that's fair either. Anyways, there's no good way to really do this imo.

I'm not sure how the league works... but I'm open to trading keepers if anyone isn't in love with theirs. I have no attachment to any of these guys since I'm taking over a team.

I think we allowed trades before the draft but I think Sparty had to facilitate them before the season actually kicked off.

Speaking of which, Stamkos is available for a 1st, for anyone who wants to guarantee they get him.

Hey guys, today is the last day to select keepers, hopefully you all have done so already.

Here's the rules from last year's thread:

Keep eight players. Keep an additional three prospects if you have them. Prospects are position players drafted three or less years ago or goalies drafted five or less years ago. Prospects have played less than fifty games in the NHL. If you have any players that were added to rosters after leaving college last year, they're not eligible to be selected as keepers because they were not eligible to be drafted previously. This is because Yahoo doesn't add college players until they're signed to pro contracts and that happens after college seasons end.

Yeah keep him, we don't really care about draft year anymore. People have goalies that are like 26 years old in NA slots once the season starts, lol

Sorry guys, way too busy these days. Just looking at keeper selections now.

@saska sault you have some keepers selected (just four), but you need to pick eight. It's going to be in your best interest to pick eight, because if you don't, you're just going to get the last four picks in the draft...basically trading four keepers for four players that would probably otherwise be free agents.

I'd be also keeping Aho, Svech, Seider and Bouchard if it were me (damn that roster is stacked, lol)

Clarke, Levi and Wolf still have keeper eligibility too if you want to keep them
