How and when you became a Stars fan: Once we got a team! I was in 3rd grade, and was really into all sports as a kid, so a new team was thrilling. I remember being so excited because my uncle worked at Dave and Buster's and got Shane Churla to sign a card for me! The Cup win was glorious. I watched it happen when I was 14, on a TV in my room (that I bought that month just for playoffs) with the volume as low as possible to not get yelled at about being up so late but still high enough to enjoy!

Favorite Food: Mexican/Salvadorian
Favorite TV Show(s): I find myself rewatching a lot of Star Trek: TNG, but not much TV really.
Favorite City: Dallas. I left, traveled the country, lived in California for a decade, and came back. It's Dallas.
Hobbies: I have a 1978 F150 that I hope will take up a lot of my free time over the next year!
Interesting Fact About Yourself: I have an insane obsession with roadtrips. Currently, I'm trying to visit all 50 States with my wife by 2020. Currently at 21 - started about 2 years ago, and got the big ones out of the way.

Sadly, most locomotive engineers I know have had that experience, and though nothing you could have done, it may haunt you forever, or at least a while. And I have seen news reports where the reporter badgers the engineer about why they "didn't do anything?" when it takes a mile to stop a train...….

I live right near where that TRE train hit a truck a few weeks back. The truck never wins, although I did see one in Chicago years ago where they tried to beat the train and the front corner happened to catch right at the engine fire wall and drag the car a bit, without hurting the occupants. Luckiest SOB's alive!

I thought you lived in the east near Newfoundland or something. One of those weird half-hour timezones.

Yeah I saw the snow looked pretty bad. I’ve got two friends who are meant to be flying back to England from there tomorrow. I’ve visited twice and think it’s a pretty wonderful city. Far better than New York which is the only other North American city I’ve been to for any length of time so far.

Ah, got it. How's that been?

It was 110% a great career choice. I work under a super skilled engineer who trusts me to get shit done. She says it's rare for a junior like me to get as much exposure as I have in my first year there. Every day is definitely interesting.

Taking 2 weeks off starting on Friday to relax though. I haven't really had a break since May.

Funnily enough, a colleague and I were discussing on Monday how much we love NYC. I can't claim to have lived there but I really enjoyed the transit system and Manhattan's grid is beautiful.

Hey guys, not sure if this is the best place for this post but I did a quick scan and couldn’t really find a better place.

I just graduated college in August with a degree in Business Administration-Marketing, and I’m looking to get out of Minnesota and into warmer weather (@Norm Green, I finally understand). My top choices are Texas, Tennessee and Arizona. My issue is that I have a few things working against me.

First, being out of state, it’s only natural that at least some of my applications that go out won’t be taken into consideration or nearly as seriously as an in-state application, whether it’s because the company doesn’t want to or can’t help with relocation, or because the company doesn’t think I’M serious about relocating.

Second, I don’t have any prior work experience. I’ve been doing an internship since April and I have gotten some decent experience in that position, but internship experience isn’t equal to real experience.

And with that said, I also don’t know anyone in any of those states that I can call on for networking.

So my question is, given all the above, do any of you have any kind of tips for finding a job in the Houston or DFW areas? I’d be looking for a position in the marketing field (not sales though). Any big recruiting firms or companies known for hiring recent grads with little to no experience that I wouldn’t be able to easily find in a Google search? I’ve scoured through sites like Indeed and Glassdoor, at this point I’d really like something ASAP and I’m just looking for any kind of insider knowledge that you guys from the area might have.

I appreciate your time reading this guys. Thank you.
