Hey everybody. There's always variations of these every year on this site. The idea is to try to reach a consensus for who each team might pick would the fans of that team be in control.

This does not take into account any previous polls before it. Only the results of this poll will affect the numbers going forward.

Here are the results of the one I set up last season: http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showthread.php?t=2095661&highlight=

There's around a month & a half left until the draft, so there will be 48 hours for the first 15 picks, and 24 hours for every pick after that. Obviously, we're only looking for the fans of each team to vote on their pick. This also assumes no trades will be made between picks.

Kings fans, you have the 11th overall pick!

1. :devils C - Nolan Patrick (81.65%)

2. :flyers C - Nico Hischier (90.91%)

3. :stars LD - Miro Heiskanen (71.88%)

4. :avs C - Gabriel Vilardi (41.30%)

5. :nucks C - Casey Mittlestadt (47.62%)

6. :vegas C/W - Cody Glass (40.00%)

7. :coyotes W - Owen Tippett (31.37%)

8. :sabres RD - Cale Makar (85.84%)

9. :wings RD - Timothy Liljegren (40.21%)

10. :panthers W - Eeli Tolvanen (28.51%)

11. :kings ??

12. :canes

13. :jets

Looking at last year's results makes it pretty obvious hf is not very good at predictions.

I want Suzuki here but I think Pettersson has a higher up side.

I'll go with Pettersson here. Higher upside and not obligated to the CHL. He does weigh 160, but he's 6'2 and will have plenty of time to build up some muscle. But honestly I would be happy with any one of Suzuki, Pettersson or Necas here.

Since good RD seem to be rare these days, selecting Foote wouldn't surprise me, even if he's not BPA.

That said, I'm sticking with the moniker of "you can't teach size" & taking the 6'5" Rasmussen.

Kopitar
Carter
Rasmussen
Amadio

Center depth with much size!!! :handclap:

The guy cannot score 5v5 so thats a NO!!!... Ryan Poehling seems to be a great kid with considerable upside.. trade back and get an extra pick... or Martin Necas, although the kid is rail thin..

Heres hoping either Owen Tippett or Timothy Liljegren fall to us!!!!

Close between Suzuki and Pettersson, as they are the top two I want.

Went with Suzuki

I think Pettersson learns how to stay on his feet and grows into some adult strength and has the raw skill of a top-5 pick. I got Pettersson. I think Suzuki is gonna be a player too though. Pettersson looks like he has a high bust potential but he's also got a ceiling unlike anyone else that would be available to us imo.

I'm going to take away TMLeafs18's vote for Elias Pettersson.

This is supposed to be only fans of a team, and based on his name/posts he's pretty clearly a Leafs fan.

This is not a DS led team so skill rather than size will hopefully be prioritized........
Jordan Weal looks like he could have been a nice piece for John Stevens

You couldn't teach size to Jens Karlsson or Matt Zultek either.

Different era of hockey but Jens Karlsson was smaller at 6 3 with 19 games and 2 points in his draft year

Matt Zultek 6 4 still slighty smaller 40 points in 63 games

Michael Rasmussen 6 5 55 points in 50 game including 32 goals To me hes better role of the dice Not even close

Pettersson

Necas/Rasmussen/Suzuki

Good and happy with any of them, but would want them in that order. Pettersson a clear step above the rest and the other three narrowly in that order. I think people here are scared off by Rasmussen thinking he is just size and the style we played in recent years. We'd be lucky to get a prospect like him.

I think it was David Rainier esq. that showed me one time many years ago about some calculations he's made with regards to first round draft picks and size. he says that if they are over 6 ft or something that they ultimately will have a much better chance at being an NHLer than someone less than 6 ft. Something like that...

What about Ryan Poehling as an off the board pick? I mean the kid pretty much substituted his senior year for a college freshman year and did pretty well.... I think his upside is being underrated

if we trade down (and i think its very possible we do) and/or get another late 1st i think he makes a lot of sense as a pick.

I honestly think if we dont get one of the following to fall to us then its makes ton of sense to trade back and acquire another mid round pick...
Timothy liljegren
Owen Tippett

Also, I know I've been this horse beyond dead but dammit since we can't afford a big time UFA and honesty none deserve to be paid in this class, why not offer up some of that money for a Kubalik, Prokhorkin or Dergachyov??? hell all 3 would be a damn coup...

Kubalik could slot into a 3rd line role
Prokhorkin screams top 6 LW
Dergachyov would develop in Ontario, has he should be

New FO, new evaluations about our current crop of overseas prospects I hope..... We did just take a chance with Oscar Fantenberg, why the heck not on the 3 I mentioned... Yes, i know they have contracts but money talks in a league where contraction is on the horizon for some clubs...

I would love Prohorkins to get a chance However i think that wold be the only one of the 3 i would attempt to get over here. Even then i dunno if he would make it or not I believe hes signed with a khl club with no out clause in the contract.

Surprised Necas isn't getting more love. Better skater than Pettersson, a Nate MacKinnon-lite. Would be my pick.
