Why is Kamenev ranked over Barbashev right now?

In their defense, the picks are coming in pretty fast. Doesn't change the fact that this coverage is horrible.

How hard is it to have an active pick selecting tracker on the bottom of the screen like they have for the NBA and NFL?

Pick is in - Calgary Selects, Mason MacDonald. Scroll that on the bottom line as every pick comes in. Not hard.

Completely different scenario. In 2004 the Rangers were a laughingstock with no established goaltending.

In 1985, the Rangers had an unproven Beezer and nothing else. They drafted Richter as insurance. But Patrick viewed Beezer as the future before and after the Richter pick.

The Rangers need another young goalie in their system. I like Skapski but who knows.

That's true… that situation was partly do to a freak injury to Blackburn. At the same rate, they tried to patch it through the draft with Montoya and it bombed. HL was just a complete shot in the dark. He was like a power ball ticket.

I guess I'd be more inclined to use a high pick on a goalie if we had a good number of picks. At this point we don't. It'll be 3 straight years without a first so I can't get behind using a 2nd on a goalie, but I guess you can justify it if you love the guy THAT much - I just don't think the NYR's have the picks to take that gamble.

Again, not against taking a shot late. I'm thinking of what a guy like Tokarski did for MTL.
