This is the last of this year's HFCBJ's annual prospect polls.
Vote for the best prospect from the above poll (listed alphabetically). Criteria is that they are under 25 and haven't spent the majority of a season in the NHL. (This criteria may not match any particular service's/outlet's, or anyone's here who makes a list. Be that as it may...)

There are no set guidelines to determine how you vote. Peak potential, likelihood of NHL career, pathway to playing time, expectations based on draft status -- any/all of these can be used at your discretion. There is no right/wrong way to vote.

That's a solid list and the fact there are at least 5 more worthy of discussion speaks to the depth of this prospect pool. Like every year, there will be players that take a jump and others that fall back. The good news is I don't think we're hoping for the jumps from players just to make a reasonable top 15. This group only lacks a true future NHL #1 goalie. Many teams do but that's the biggest organizational question mark - NHL to prospects. Thankfully that's what other depth does... it can allow you to move players/prospects to fill those holes. They are all assets and the higher the asset base, the better opportunity you have to fill with high end talent (NHL or picks). I am really excited to see if this group of prospects can truly take that development leap the next 2-3 years. Going to be bumpy but fun! Buckle up fans!

Surprised a guy who's going to be a UFA in two days got more votes than a guy who got 8 NHL games last year.

Not to sound like a dick, but how is James Fisher getting even one vote? Or is it a stupid joke?

What trait does he have that’s above average, or makes people think he could be an NHLer?

He was healthy scratched multiple times for Youngstown, didn’t play a single minute in the playoffs. He piled up a whopping 10 total points as an 18 year old in the USHL.

Andrew Strathmann (17) played on the same team as Fisher, as a defender, is not considered an offensive defenseman, yet still scored 38 points…

Voted Strathmann, changed vote to Pinelli (so Knazko doesn’t win).

It came up before the draft when we were doing mock drafts. And then the Jackets actually drafted him. His name is very similar to his main champion here.

2022 Draft Thread - July 7-8 (CBJ to pick 6th (via CHI) and 12th overall)

i haven't been voting for fisher but as i understand it, the case for him is basically that:
  1. he had some hype going into the '22 draft as a mid/late round sleeper
  2. he has an NHL frame and athleticism
  3. he came from high school hockey, so he's really raw
i don't have an issue with taking a raw guy with size/athleticism in the late rounds. sometimes you can get a nice bottom-sixer out of it (lukas sedlak), other times you get guys who land in the ECHL or europe. after fisher's d+1 year it feels like he's probably destined to go the kale howarth/tyler bird route.

C'mon folks, it's purely a joke.

James is good mod but not a top 25 prospect in the org.
