For the last month, I've been running a series of polls to vote for a U23 team, all voted in by HFBoards. The rules were simple:

  • Players must be under age 23, cut off date is September 27 2022.
  • They can be pro or amateur.
  • Names listed alphabetically, with age.
  • Vote based on who is the best now - not long term potential.
  • Ignore positions within the groups (C/W/LD/RD).

There's a lot of Sabres up there.

I'm pretty bullish on their direction.

Do you think Sanderson will be on that starting 6 D next year?

We are losing 3/6 guys (and both Honourable Mentions). Going to be lots of spots open. I imagine guys like Sanderson, Hughes, Drysdale, Schneider, Clarke, Guhle and Edvinsson will all be in the mix. Maybe a few guys we don't have on our radar right now, as well.

It’s possible - he’s getting a pretty solid opportunity to play top four minutes with some impressive offensive contributors.

PP time may be available as well.

I like Miller quite a bit. I don't necessarily think he is "better" than Hughes. But if I was constructing a team and could have Seider and Miller out for 18-20 minutes 5-on-5 plus as the top PK pairing, I take it every time. Miller's all-around game is already near the top of the league.

Wow, the Jackets are so unrepresented we don't even appear in the list of unrepresented teams. That's pretty rough.

Oof, that's my bad. I remember thinking Sillinger was going to make the HM's but ended up losing out to Quinn.

I imagine Sillinger and Jonhsson will be here soon, potentially next year.

I think it's a little pre-mature to put Bryam and Powers over Miller, but I can see the argument on potential. Right now Miller 100% deserves to be there until one of them pushes him out. Kakko's been better than Laf through camp, pre-season, and 1 game.

I agree, I think we will look back on this and see Miller as one of the big misses. Perhaps Caufield should be higher as well.

Miller is not a big point producer in part because of lack of PP time so he'll be underrated, but having him on our second pairing is a luxury only a handful of teams have. The guy is an absolute stud.
