Add Joshua Roy because he's getting picked soon (at least, he should be, unless someone wants to argue that one of the best scorer for two years in the Q + top 3 best player on Team Canada Junior in 2023 shouldn't be picked?!)

Feel like Savoie is getting overrated here. Presumably due to some combination of his high draft position (in a pretty wide open year), and his "flashy" style of player + fairly stacked juniors stats. Ignoring the fact he's real small and plays a style of game that can often be a very significant adjustment to the NHL level for that sort of player.

Maybe if you and MrB1P get to vote a dozen times each...

Hesitated between Jiricek and Bourque only to realize it was ADAM and not DAVID, since David is very obviously not eligible.

So yeah I should've voted Bourque.

I hesitate between Nazar or But, but I pick But, just because of his unique package! (But my vote was been on Snuggerud, because it's only a mistake, I see But and that's clicked on him).

I thought Bourque’s size might hold him back in the pros, but it’s impossible to ignore the season he just had in the AHL.

insane that Bourque (AHL MVP) is still on the board

recency bias is strong with this one

I can see the argument for Bourque here, but wouldn't that be...recency bias to actually vote him, based on the season he just had in the AHL? That most recent season is really the only compelling argument for him. And it's a solid one. But still very much about recency bias, over some others who are earlier in their development curves and/or far more projection based because they simply haven't had as much time to put Post-draft years on the board yet.

The recency bias I'm talking about is related to the recently drafted shiny new toys that always dominate these rankings.

Bourque's already outperformed a lot of these kids in terms at the junior level - he led his team to a QMJHL championship, was top 5 in U-21 scoring in his 1st AHL season and followed that up as #1 player in the league in his second pro year.

QMJHL production from a 20 year old does not move the needle

Objectively the shiny new toy syndrome is probably right.

Where does bourque go in a redraft? I doubt it's top 20.

All of these guys from his draft class have made NHL contributions.
Screenshot 2024-08-13 at 11.38.08 AM.png

Even you like at a guy considered a "bust" in Alex Holtz from that same draft class

Go back to his AHL production from 2021-2022 (this is 2 years ago), and it matches up to what bourque did in the AHL in 2023-2024.

Unless your claim is that the 2020 class is leaps and bounds above all the other draft classes.

He probably falls in the 20-25 range in your average draft class.

Or:

Behind 20-25 or so guys from this past year
Behind 15-20 or so guys that haven't graduated from 2023
Behind 10-15 or so guys that haven't graduated from 2022
Behind 5-10 or so guys that haven't graduated from 2021
Behind a weird case like Nikishin.

Every single top guy from 2024 is in the rankings. It checks out.

All of the top guys from Bourque's draft class are already very valuable NHLers like Byfield, Sanderson, Mercer, Peterka, Faber, Laffy, Stutzle, Jarvis, Raymond, Guhle, Neighbours, Perfetti, Zary, Lundell, Schneider, etc
