top AHL scorers from list:

Norris 56GP 31G/61P (age 20)
Formenton 61GP 27G/53P (age 20)
Tippett 46GP 19G/40P (age 20)
Liljegren 40GP 30P (age 20)
Brannstrom 27GP 23P (age 20)
Frost 41GP 13G/29P (age 20)

we should see these guys soon imo.... big gap between junior and AHL, and moreso between AHL and NHL

Liljegren, the only AHL all-star defencemen (aged 20 at the time) still left on the board. Would've made the year end all-star team like Norris did as well, but made the NHL instead.

i’m shocked Brannstrom is still on the board
didnt look great with Ottawa, but cant blame him.... I mean, if every player on the board played 30+ games in the NHL Im sure they would look MUCH worse than AHL/junior as well. Let alone he played for one of the worst teams.

Yea both Brannstrom and Liljegren had better seasons than Bouchard imo.

No they didn't look great in the NHL as 20 year olds, but Brannstrom was insanely dynamic in the AHL and Liljegren had a higher PPG and was better defensively than Bouchard.

Some of these guys should've been on the board a long time ago. I mean, come on! Kravtsov is on there. 15p in the AHL.

yeah, FOrmenton is really being ignored.

hes 6'3, over a PPG in OHL, 18P/14GP playoffs (18-19)
and just under a PPG in AHL with 27G last season

Same with Norris. But HF generally favors players recently drafted. Jarvis is in the lead. JARVIS! He wasn't even part of that clear cut top 12 during the draft.

HF just voted in only 2 2020 players in the last 15 choices. If anything the bias appears in favor of guys that are 20+ years old, playing okay at higher levels, seem safe but lack topline / top pair upside. There's more value in someone like Lundell or Jarvis that could be a serious core piece.

"JARVIS!" is on a different planet skill-wise than a lot of these players already ranked. Many people, myself included, had him top 10 in this draft. But regardless if someone was "clear cut" or unanimous choice for top 12 in the recent draft, we're now at pick #35 - many top 12 guys from recent seasons are either already in the NHL or clearly busted, it's entirely appropriate that we would be working through recent draftees at this point, and this draft class is if anything stronger. I'm an Oilers fan and I would rather have Jarvis or Lundell than Bouchard or Broberg.

I follow Ottawa prospects closely and Formenton does deserve consideration around here. He's not really a super high skilled guy though, he's more of a speedy type like Foudy. Similar level with Brannstrom - pretty good prospect but still has a ton of question marks about whether he could be a core piece. Both are behind Norris and Batherson.

Yep, shiny new toy syndrome at its finest on here. Jarvis is still unsigned, isn’t he?

Being unsigned doesn't matter, he's not a KHL or college player. He isn't going anywhere.

I would have had Norris off the board by now but I don't like trying to pit him against Jarvis here. Jarvis has crazy high upside, and even though Norris has done very well at every level so far, the general view in Ottawa is that he isn't likely to be the #1C of the future, he might not even be a special #2C.
