Voted Yakemchuk, but the 5 picks after him are all ranked higher, hope the Sens knew what they were doing.

Not really sure why Musty's size is a real "kicker" tbh. Yes, he's got good size and that's not going to be an issue for him. But it's not like he's some super imposing physical presence with that size or anything. He's just sort of...tall, and reasonably big...as a guy who doesn't really play that sort of game much.
I just feel that when youre a top scorer in a league like the OHL (best in PPG too), and youre already 6'2 200 lbs at age 18, its pretty much as good as you can ask for from a player in his D+1. To me that gives him the edge over other maybe smaller point producers that also did very well in their D+1 (Savoie, Cowan, Yager for example)..... I mean its the main reason why guys like Sennecke and Lindstrom went so high, no? Take 3 inches off both of them and they dont get drafted top 5, I assure you.

Geekie is another one with size (6'4 197 lbs) and produced a lot last season 23G 50P 50GP (WHL) but in his D+2

at the same time, I mean yes were at a point where 10 other players could be voted with valid arguments....

I like Dvorsky and Yakemchuk at those spots. Voted Dvorsky but it could've gone either way. Two very good prospects.

Curious why Dvorsky over Musty? Same age and team, Musty 14 more pts and is a little bigger.

I’m not saying everyone’s just looking at draft position, but I think this would be a good example where people are.

(I understand 14 points instead a huge difference too)

Dvorsky overall skillset will translate better than Musty in the NHL imo. Points doesn’t really matter much because I don’t expect either to be offensive dynamo

Took Ritchie since Shane Doan has apparently aged out......

Yakemchuk leading the poll is interesting as he has some projecibilty issues with hockey IQ for the NHL level.

Past the point where it’s obvious who to pick based on gaudy points. Time to look at these guys deeper.

Dvorsky is a two way beast. Very underrated on this list.
Rehkpof is extremely creative and skilled. Very high on him.
Molendyk is an outstanding player, too bad he was out for WJC.
Geekie is another player who will be really effective in the NHL.
ASP, Cowan, Lekkerimaki, Wallinder, Nygard, Nadeau, Snuggerud, Bonk are all top 50 guys imo

a lot of sens fans lurking in the water
I don't think that he will be a bust like Boucher but Sens fans are probably going to regret not taking one of the 3D men taken after him.

He did have 30G and has size. IQ can be learned, especially Dmen takes time in the NHL.

Personally, I would pretty easily take him over any other Dman listed

A LOT! Only 6 of the 15 voters were Sens fans. I started voting Yakemchuk in poll #29, didn't vote for him before and he started getting votes a while ago

Here's where the other high end D prospects from the 2024 draft have been voted in the current ranking :

#7. Artyom Levshunov
#11. Zeev Buium
#17. Anton Silayev
#19. Sam Dickinson
#21. Zayne Parekh
#30. Carter Yakemchuk

Even though he was the 2nd D picked in the real draft and you can read this in McKenzie's article :

"There’s actually a sixth consideration, too. That would be TSN’s No. 13-ranked Carter Yakemchuk, the big 6-foot-3, 30-goal man from the Calgary Hitmen. He warrants inclusion in the same universe as the others. He was ranked as high as No. 4 on one list and as low as No. 20 on another, with four scouts having him in their Top 10."

But clearly, Yak has been voted #30 here because sens fans were lurking!
