Rutger McGroarty again, highest floor to me and still have high potential to become a very good top 6 player.

Zellweger more proven here

37P in 44GP AHL
9P 26GP NHL

More gp, sure.

But one of these dynamic D is 5'11 and thick and the other is 5'9 and not thick. You can be a proven super small D and still end up dinged up and on the shelf.

Still just playing whack a mole voting for whichever of Ritchie/Willander/Danielson. It's those three for me, in some order.

Probably should've gone for Danielson this round as he looks to have the best shot at winning. Oh well.

2" and 10 lbs more isnt that overwhelming.... already proving yourself as a rookie in the AHL holds more weight to me

There is a big difference there.

Think about how many 5'11 D there are in the NHL.

Then think about how many 5'9 D there are in the NHL (almost zero).

A big part of why that is that 5'9 D show up just as promising but get a much higher rate of career ending injuries.

FWIW Mateychuk actually scored 4 pts in 5 AHL playoff games, against the champion Hershey Bears. There's little doubt that he can handle that league.

Hasn’t zellweger already showed he can somewhat handle the nhl? He was playing 20+ mins nightly for the last 20ish games of the season’s

Not sure the size argument works very well in this poll based on where we slotted Hutson

WHAT?! AGAINST MEN!!

futurama-nixon.gif

It’s funny to me that zellweger gunna drop 7-8 spots from last year, when most of the doubters said let’s see what he does against men.

Went on to dominate the AHL as a rookie, getting an allstar nod and being arguably top player for the gulls.

Had a pretty solid World Cup
And had a pretty good start to his NHL career, looked good enough that the coaching staff didn’t consider sending him down after his 2nd call up

Most of these 5'9 D either end up getting dinged up eventually or they end up being guys that no one is too keen on acquiring (i.e. Girard). There's very few that pay off long term.

Hutson is about twenty spots too high.

Well I don’t disagree that Hutson is too high, and I’d prob have zellweger and mateychuk next to each other…. With a slight bias to zellweger and zellweger being the older and more developed of the 2.

Yeah I'd have it very nearly the same, with a slight bias to the bigger framed defenseman.
