======================
I've had an idea. Let's decide who the greatest players in Avalanche history are.
  • You decide what "greatest" means.
  • Only judge players based on their Avalanche careers. This means no extra points for Sakic's time with the Nordiques, or Ray Bourque's time with the Bruins.
  • Poll will be open for a few days.
  • Each time you vote, suggest a player who should be added for the next round.
  • If there's no consensus on who should be added I'll just pick the next player who's played the most games.
  • Here's a list of everyone: Colorado Avalanche all-time player list at hockeydb.com

One thing that surprised me doing these polls is I had it in my mind that Roy won a Vezina with us. I know he didn't win many but I still thought/assumed he had one in Colorado.

Talk about an interesting personality mix with those three lol.

Mack is Foppa or as close as it gets

Landy is Sakic..

Who the hell is like Roy? Byram? Lmao

I wonder what Roy and Foppa thought of each other for real.

Roy was my #2, but I'm fine with Forsberg/Roy 2/3. Reading the comments on the previous two threads just now though, I don't think MacKinnon is getting his due. The next poll should be interesting.

Easy Roy. I was going to vote him #2 but him leaving as a coach the way he did made him #3 for me.

Roy again for me here.
Adding Kamensky or Lemieux soon?
To not forget the other main pieces from the start of our tenure.

I am lucky has I have watched all of these great players live. You have to look at the total body of work while ranking, IMO. I could see a Makar and/or MacKinnon moving up in these types of polls when all is said and done.

Will be interesting who people start suggesting to add. You've got a lot of core guys who didn't find much if any playoff success but stuck around for a while and racked up points/stats (Duchene, Stastny, ROR, Barrie, Varly). You've got high level guys who played really well, won a cup, but played half as many games with us (Kamensky, Ozo, Blake)....also had really good playoff records. Then there is EJ who is one of the longest tenured Avs (5th in games and t-3rd in seasons), bleeds blue and burgundy, won a cup, but was never at the level of Blake, Ozo, Kamensky or even Duchene or ROR.

I'm going with Tanguay. Longevity, really good player, next guy up in regular season point totals, playoff heroics with key cup goals, two times with the Avs, and a cup on the resume. I was young when we were winning those first cups though so it is tough. Blake and Ozolinsh have better overall playoff resumes but fewer games in the regular season. I remember loving watching Blake and Ozo play and would be fine with them being up next.
